MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM GOD LOVES KIDS

Dont panic. It really isnt that time of year yet. However, it is Christmas in October here at God Loves Kids. We must start now or we cannot get the funds to the childrens homes in time for the administrators to buy the gifts for the children.
Until we took them in, most of the children never had a Christmas gift in their lives. When you are a child who lives in a culture of poverty that offers absolutely no options, you have no choice about what you will eat, what you will wear, where you will live or where you will go. You are not a person; you are nobody. You are totally locked into the inevitable. When it rains, you get wet. When its muddy, you get dirty. When there is no food, your stomach aches. When you get sick, you die. You cant change it, ght it or help it. In the end, you just accept it, unless God sends someone into your life to love you and care for your needs, especially if you are ve years old and you have to take care of your two year old brother all by yourself. God uses sponsors like you, who will faithfully send support each month and give special love offerings for birthdays and Christmas gifts. Our goal is not only to meet the temporal needs of the children we minister to, but also to teach them that the God we serve is a kind and generous God who is concerned about their well-being. Giving a special gift to the children in

honor of the birth of Jesus is a powerful means of teaching them the reality of Gods love in contrast with the teaching in their culture that the gods are angry and to be feared. Most of our sponsors are faithful to send every year (or many add an extra $5 a month to their regular sponsorship) for their childs birthday and Christmas. We believe that most will do that again this year, but we have so many children who do not yet have a sponsor and we cannot bear the thought of those children not receiving a Christmas gift. If you are a sponsor, would you prayerfully consider blessing an additional child? If you are not a sponsor, please consider putting a smile of happiness on a childs face this Christmas even if you have never sent an offering before. I am asking God to let no child be left out this year. Even though it is very early for the Christmas to which most of us are accustomed, God Loves Kids wishes you a wonderful, blessed Christmas this year! Lovie Phillips

THE REAL SANTA

The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was a part of Greece but is now the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus words to sell what you own and give the money to the poor, Nicholas used his entire inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made the Bishop of Myra. While still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships. Most children in third world countries have never heard the name of St. Nicolas or Santa Claus. December 25th is not a day to receive presents or celebrate the Christ Childs birth. It is a day like any other, lled with humiliation and hunger, shame and sickness. Children sponsored by God Loves Kids in these countries are blessed. For them, Christmas is a day of joy and celebration, of feasting, and yes, PRESENTS! Most of them come from families that are too poor to afford even daily bread. Thanks to their sponsors, they will have a Christmas gift. They are shown the reason for the season. This year, you can be the real Santa Claus to a needy child. Your

sponsored child will receive his or her Christmas gift in Christs name as tangible evidence of Gods love. We also need special people to be the real Santa to unsponsored children. Every October, we ask that our sponsors give a little extra in their monthly sponsorship gift. This extra money is used to buy their child a Christmas gift. While we would love to encourage sponsors to send care packages, the taxes and duties on these presents can be unduly burdensome to the schools and homes overseas. Instead, we send the money to the schools where a teacher or houseparent chooses a gift that best suits the child, like a toy, book, game, or new clothes. One year, our children in Uganda received underwear and toothbrushes! Many of the new children receive their rst Bible as their rst Christmas gift. As you look through holiday cards from Christmas past, what do you see? You may see serene and snow covered New England villages, beautiful angels, and cuddly, adorable animals. Even the religious themed cards generally show an unrufed Mary and Joseph gazing adoringly down at their rst born. The Israel of Jesus birth was recovering from a long series of bloody civil wars and was occupied by a ruthless government. Jesus was not born, nor did he live, in a Hallmark card setting. In many ways, the child Jesus could relate to our unsponsored children, poor and living in uncertain circumstances.

CAN YOU ENVISION

We have a vision for a new church in Nepal, a country where for centuries, no Christian missionaries were allowed to enter.
Can you envision a land where cows are holy, animal sacrices are a weekly occurrence, and human cremations take place daily? Can you envision a country that ofcially worships 330 million gods and only has a population of 29 million people? Can you envision what it would be like to live in a country where for most of its history the King was considered to be one of those gods? Can you envision living in a country where the mass media has launched an extensive campaign against Christians, accusing them of destroying the culture? Can you envision a country where for centuries, no Christians (at least missionaries) were allowed to enter? Can you envision what it would be like to live in one of the poorest countries in the world? Can you envision the impact a new Church preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ could have in a place like this?

The Caste System is a major issue, and the reason the religious social system of Hinduism so clearly devalues humanity.
The structure of this system says that you must always be in the caste into which you were born. The Brahmin caste is the most privileged in the society, because people in this

equality, and civil rights. Even though corruption, poverty and disunity among the dozens of ethnicities within the country have all hampered these efforts and taken its toll on society, a door has been opened to establish a Church through our ministry in Nepal.

group are considered to be gods. Every other caste is under them. People were, and still are, identied with their caste in the society as well as in the government of Nepal. When a person becomes Christian, he or she loses their identity and becomes an outcast without standing in the community, therefore losing any social & even government recognition. You are no longer considered a Nepali and you lose your citizenship. Christianity comes with a very high price in Nepal. For the last 10 years the Church in Nepal has also been going through the persecution of Maoist who were promoting communism. Many Christian leaders were arrested and taken into labor camps, many of them never to be heard from again. The church buildings were conscated to use as communist ofces. Some of the churches were even burned down when they opposed the communists. The good news is that although the Church of Jesus Christ has been persecuted in every way, Nepal today is a country in transition moving toward a democratic republic. Politicians are working on a new constitution that promises freedom of religion,

God Loves Kids started a children's home in Nepal in 2004.

We initially took in 25 young children who were suffering and needing help. Without the home they would not have enough food to sustain them and would not receive an education. The home has had a tremendous impact on the lives of the children and the community they are in. Now the directors of the home who are gifted and trained spiritual leaders feel that it is time to start a church. (For their safety we do not publicize where the school is located or the leaders name.) Can you Envision a new Church in Nepal preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in one of the most needed places in the world? WE CAN!

I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to God Loves Kids.
We have an opportunity to help launch a Church in Nepal which is one of the most unreached countries in the world, with almost 80% of its population being Hindu, the rest Buddhist or animist, and less than 1% Christian. Yes, I said plant a church in a country where Hinduism is the major religion. In fact, Nepal is a country known as the last Hindu kingdom in the world, and with Hinduism comes many spiritual challenges one of the greatest being the Caste System.

If you want to be a part of this great missions opportunity it will take $12,000.00 to launch the church in Nepal or $500 a month for 24 months. Any commitment large or small toward this goal will be greatly appreciated.
