A Detailed Lesson Plan in Math IV

I. Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
1. define what an angle is.
2. classify angles based on their measurements.

3. identify the different kinds of angles.

II. Subject Matter:

III. Procedure:
A. Preparatory Activities/Pre-Assessment
Teacher’s Activity Pupils Activity
Good afternoon class!
Let me call on Gelyn to please lead the
prayer and Jennifer for our action song.
Ok, please remain standing for the prayer
and for our action song afterwards.
Good afternoon Ms. Silawan! Maayong
Iligan!

Gelyn in front please… Yes ma’am!

Singing of the action song… None ma’am.
Ok, very good! Clap your hands for
everybody…
Please take your seats now, and arrange your
chairs properly.
Now are you ready for our new lesson for
today?
Before I’ll forget please pass your
assignments now, in front… B. Review
Who is absent by the way? Before we’ll go to our lesson proper let’s
have first our review.
The pupils clap their hands…

Yes ma’am!

Yes ma’am!

Yes ma’am!

Ok, class who among you here can recall

our last topic?
…anybody? Me ma’am!
Ok! Lisa please stand up. Yes ma’am! Our lesson yesterday was…
Very good! Thank you, you may now sit
down…
C. Motivation Now let me tell you how Stella manages her
time during school days in order for her not
to be late.
Ok! During school days, Stella wakes up
at 5 o’clock in the morning and leaves the
house at 6 o’clock. Her classes begin at 7:30
AM and ends at 3:00 PM.(While telling to
the class the story, in every time mentioned
there is a clock representation shown).
Let me pose these clock representations on
the board for you…

Now, look at the clock representations on

the board…

Observe the hands of the clock at each hour.

Does it form an angle? The pupils observe the different clock

representations on the board…
Yes ma’am!
Very good observation!

Can you name those angles?

No ma’am!
For you to name those angles let me discuss
to you the different kinds of angles.

D. Lesson Proper
Our main topic for this afternoon is all
about the Different Kinds of Angles. Angles
by the way are geometric figures with two
rays and a common point, or a union of two
non-collinear rays which intersect at their
end points. We actually define the two non-
collinear rays as their sides and the common
endpoints as its vertex.
An angle is measured in degrees (the unit
measure of an angle) with the use of a
protractor as a measuring device. In
measuring angles, what is measured is the
opening of the angle and not the sides of the
angle.
I have here the four kinds of angles:
1. Right Angle- which forms a square
corner and whose angles measures 900.
2. Acute Angle- is smaller than a right
angle. It measures less than 900.
3. Obtuse Angle- is larger than a right
angle. It measures more than 900.
4. Straight Angle- is formed by two right
angles or two square corners. It measures
1800.
Do you get it class?
Going back to the class representations I
have their on the board, who can name now
the different angles each clock shows?
Clock representation #1…
Clock representation #2...

Clock representation #3…

Clock representation #4…

Very good!
Straight angle

Acute angle
Yes ma’am!
Right angle

Me ma’am!
Obtuse angle
Another…
Draw each kind of angle on the board...
1. Angle ABC; acute angle Ok! Very good..!
2. Angle XYZ; right angle Since you understand already our lesson this
afternoon you are now ready for our activity.
3. Angle NOP; obtuse angle
F. ---ACTIVITY---
4. Angle TUV; straight angle
I will group yourselves into three…ok count
E. Generalization: one, two and three…each group must have a
group representative to discuss your answers
Ok, what have you learn about our lesson
in front later.
for this afternoon?
IV. Evaluation:
Jondell.
Get ½ sheet of paper for our quiz.
V. Assignment:
Who can add?
Roselyn.

No more?
Ok,Alma…
I have learned that an angle is a geometric
figure with two rays and a common end
point.

I have learned that there are four kinds of

angles, the right angle, acute angle, obtuse
angle and the straight angle.

I have learned that a right angle measure

900, an acute angle measures less than 900,
obtuse angles measures more than 900, and a
straight angle measures 1800.
