ALUMINIUM INDUSTRY
Aluminium industry is one of the leading segments of the Indian economy and is expected to play a significant role in its future growth. Apart from its potentially large, growing market, India is endowed with large deposits of high quality Bauxite ore, Power (Coal), formidable pool of manpower both skilled and unskilled. Indian aluminium industry is forging ahead with rapid expansion in both Primary metal and Downstream sectors. With the Indian economy projected to be amongst the top five in the world by 2020, the overall consumption of Aluminium is projected to be about 5 million tonnes by 2015, and 10 million tonnes by 2020. The major sectors contributing to Indian Aluminium Consumption growth ie., Electrical (Power), Building and Construction, Packaging and Transportation, are expected to grow in double digits in the next decade, to reach a per capita consumption of about 10kg.

ALUMINIUM ASSOCIATION OF INDIA (AAI)

Aluminium Association of India (AAI), the apex body of entire aluminium industries in the country, was founded in 1981, with the main objective to promote utilization and growth of aluminium and its varied applications like building, packaging, transportation, power generation, aerospace, automobile, telecommunications, etc. ; to build awareness on health, environment, safety and energy; to disseminate knowledge on aluminium products, technologies, marketing, etc. AAI acts as a common forum for aluminium industry and its constituents to formulate policies and strategies; maintain close liaison with various Ministries of Government of India. Extremely important and unique documents are prepared by AAI To evolve a National Aluminium Policy , Aluminium Mission Plan 2010-2020 document was submitted to the Ministry of Mines for their support and guidance. Currently this document is under intense discussions / preparation of action plan with the Ministry A dynamic document - Technology Roadmap For Indian Aluminium Industry is being prepared with the guidance and support of Ministry of Science and Technology - (TIFAC). This document will enable Indian Aluminium Industry to adopt appropriate technologies and march forward in the global scenario
