Introduction

Human Computer Interaction which is also known as HCI. It is the planning, study and design of the interaction between users and computer. Historically, computer system developers have not paid much attention to computer ease-of-use. Many computer users would argue that computer makers are still not paying enough attention to make their production "user-friendly."

However, computer system developers might argue that computers are extremely complex products to design and make and that the demand for the services that computers can provide has always out driven the demand for ease-of-use.

Question 1 The use of handwriting recognition is growing rapidly which allow the computer to receive and interpret intelligible handwritten input from sources such as paper documents, photographs, touchscreens and other devices. Explain and discuss about handwriting recognition, the advantages and disadvantages of the technology.

In Human Computer Interaction (HCI), a thing that created by human also got a important mean and goal. For example, human created handwriting recognition is because to make a life easier and effective every second that we had. Besides that, a computer is a powerful device of our daily life. For sure it can make our living condition become interesting or enjoyable, to completing a task. So, there are many advantages for HCI make used of everything which are not only for new generation children, it is also for those living in this 21st century human.

This is experience about our grandparent, they are using handwriting or typing machine to records something, as long as they want to keep a black and white or document. They have to write or type into a piece of paper. Moreover, there are no such thing call photocopy or scan document in the old era. If they want to makes another copy, they have to writes or type the document continuously. These methods are not a good idea for those big companies that want to do many copy of a same document.

Fortunately, 1915s a commercial product is using handwriting recognition to detect a word by using a stylus to write and it is most describe as a translator from human writing into word that used in computer. When it is publish, it makes human life easy and it also can help the children to learn how to write. This technology is eco friendly too, because it will decrease the uses of paper and reduce the numbers of tree cut in the forest. It successfully created another way for human to duplicate document. Besides that, the use of handwriting recognition is growing rapidly which allow the computer to receive and interpret intelligible handwritten input from sources such as paper documents, photographs, touchscreens and other devices.

Question 1 (Answer 1 In this kind of topic, there are two kind of things which are advantages and disadvantages have to be discuss. It is because handwriting is a good technology but it also come with some issues that harm and not good to human.

So, the first point of advantage is people can store documents with less space, less paper, less rack and etc. It is because all the documents now are store inside the computer or other devices. Normally, we are storing a document inside fail and put it on the rack, but for handwriting recognition, people are going to store their document inside the computer by just type their details and draw their signature into the personal computer. So, we just keep it without anything except the electronic devices.

Next, handwriting recognition important is because we can store data without any paper become yellow and hard to read the word, or the ink dispose from the paper. It is not a good idea to store document for a long term, we can just store data for few years. After that, advantage to have this, our document can be secure from others and from damages, lost or etc of the original copy. It is also available for easy readable and font exchangeable ability.

Then, its looking at data retrieve back, if there are some counterfeit on physical issues. Many society have their own storing data system which is only they knowing how o store the data, but handwriting recognition can keep well of a document by saving them in a proper file format. For instance, sport centre medical report which is compatible to the clinic medical report. This is because to compatible to every society and to lower the percentages of the losing data from one society. Sometimes, human can makes error such as misfiling of detail or data corruption.

Followed by the disadvantages of handwriting recognition such as cannot recognizes mathematical symbol or sign that wrote by user, which mean there are only for words. There are few types of mathematical symbol which often used by us such as +, -, *, / and etc. So, handwriting recognition is not a good product for those physicians, mathematics teachers and any other society that related to it. Else if they used both devices, keyboard to input the symbol and then uses back the handwriting recognition software.

Besides that, one more disadvantage that belongs to handwriting recognition is our handwriting must be clear for it to be recognized. For example, user have to write as like that. Otherwise, maybe the system cannot recognize your words.

Next, it is about the ability of a people. It is because a lot of people now a day afraid of tired and pain. So, if people used handwriting recognition for a long period, they got a feeling of tire and also not comfortable on arm or legs. The pain or come from the longer time we are sitting on the chair and did not move here and there.

Disadvantages Need to use a computer and it is not suitable for people not computer literacy. Need to use a pointing device such as stylus, because some panel not recognize finger touch and etc. Have to be clean and tidy. Not available for normal phone and etc.

Short and simple. Various operating systems supported such as Window Based or Macintosh. No limit of words. PDA, personal computer, smart phones and etc. The document can be stored in typed form or writing form because some document that comes together with the signature can be transfer to become a digital form. No physical space needs.

Question 2

Question 2 Users are keen to use the internet by hand phones since most of the telecommunication provider are providing 3G Internet. The 3G Internet experience will be as good as surfing from home, with the added benefit of locationbased services making the experience more personal. The main problem of using the 3G Internet is the slowness. What usability problems complicate surfing the web on a mobile telephone compared to desktop browsers?

3G was formed in 1998 is also known as third generation mobile telecommunication which is using on phone, broadband and etc. It helps human to human connection, whenever they are such as Eric are living in England but Erica are living in Malaysia. So, they are communicating through phone or internet by 3G or etc. This technology includes wide area wireless voice network such as video call, mobile TV, internet connection for mobile phones and etc.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS); which got a speed that up to 114Kbps and started in 2000. Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE) got a speed of 384Kbps and began in 2003. UMTS Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) with a speed of 1.92Mbps. High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) which has a 14Mbps speeds and started at the end of 2007.

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 also known as 3GPP2, it is forming to help North American and Asian operators to use CDMA2000 transition to 3G. Although, the advantages of 3rd Generation technologies are lots such as available to access anywhere there are network connection, but there are also disadvantages on the way. The problem that user always get into is not stable connection, slowness and etc. It is because the connection is depending on the signal from the transmitter of the providers.

Besides that, in these few years, the age and number of people that carrying phone are getting younger and more. Unfortunately, the telecommunication service provider came along with the latest 3G connectivity. Everything always came along with some issue that cannot be avoids. The points or problems that most probably a user can found in their phone web browser are not as fast as the computer web browser, the resolution just have a limited screen resolution, not easy to move the cursor from one side to the other side as we can just easy to moved it if we are using desktop at home. So, there are many company take this disadvantage to produce a new web browser as the user always complaint about it. In our phone, there are few types of web browser which are normally used by us such as opera mini web browser; which is offering the fastest browse speed among the web browser, Skyfire; which is ability to play Quicktime, Flash, Silverlight and etc, and many others. Many people will download it, to improve the speed of open page. Otherwise, they are going to surf the internet in a slow and less feature web browser that is preloaded inside the phone system. There are the differences between the normal web browser and the advance web browser on the mobile phone:

We can saw the differences of web browser in the picture that shows in the Page 6. Skyfire web browser is offering the full page access which is also same by using Opera web browser, but for the normal web browser in the phone just giving the different thing like the full page access. It is known as Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Wireless Markup Language (WML). Besides that, there are few types of controlling of the cursor such as joystick, touch-screen, normal button, and etc. For example, a user of mobile phone is using the normal button phone to access to the wireless internet, the first problem they are facing the slowness of internet and the second problem is hard to controlling the cursor from the left to right, or from the top to bottom of the screen. However, the advantages of mobile phone are so much and it makes web more accessible portable and wireless device. Im also always using mobile phone as a device to access to internet at anywhere I am, by 3G or others. So, I got such experiences in this technology. A mobile internet has the ability to offering a great service which is flexible. It is because laptop is impossible to use in some place such as in the car or public transport, but there is hardly everywhere you cant use your phone. For instance, you can use mobile phone to internet while lying on a chair or bed with your favourite posture. Lastly, mobile phone no additional requirement. What do it means? It is because mobile phone doesnt need any external accessories to plug-in besides than your mobile phone and your sim card only. No modem or Universal Serial Bus (USB) card or anything, you are always sure to have access to the net which only need to pay for the charges. When there are connections you are able to connect to the internet.

In the desktop web browser we can access the full utility or we are experiencing the advance page which is something that different in the mobile phone web browser. For example, the flash items, the full webpage, the full utility of a page and many more. So, it is an advantage for using a desktop web browser. Anyways, we can solve this problem by using some advancing web browser. Moreover, the mobile phones screen is not as big as a desktop screen. Otherwise, you are using a big screen mobile phone.

Conclusion
In question 1, handwriting recognition is defined as an application that it can detect for human writing. At the first, it is creating for the user to complete their task in an easier and faster manner with just write on a panel which is the panel can detect the hand writing. Next, in this few years, there are more and more products in the market which are not only available in Personal Computer, but it is ability for touch screen mobile phones such as IPhone, BlackBerry, SonyEricsson, Nokia, Samsung and etc. So, the disadvantage, not all the mobile phones are ready for this feature.

Besides that, question 2 looks at the comparison between mobile phone web browser and desktop web browser. Its both also ability to give user to access to internet. The only different between the two web browsers are just speed, device needs, connection, price and location. Next, we can now conclusion it as the mobile phone web browser is complicated to surf internet, but it is portable and flexibility on the go.

In this assignment, I had learned What is HCI? and How HCI can makes improvement and efficient for our living style? It is something like how the HCI helps us to create some machine and etc, to overcome the problem that held on time with an easier manner and creativity of human mind. HCI is a planning, study and design of the interaction between users and computer.
