Lets deal with the speed issue first. According to what I can find with a quick internet search, there is no real way to measure a twinkle or reflex in an eye. As close as we might measure is to relate to a blink of an eye. The normal eye blinks at a rate of about 300 to 400 milliseconds. Now that is just plain fast. Lets call it sudden. Sudden is fast. Sudden is immediate. Sudden is surprising. Sudden is done. Think about some of the things that happen in the twinkling of an eye. Driving easily becomes a devastating accident. Love flows in a certain way and then a young lady answers a marriage proposal, Yes! A freelance couple greet the arrival of a baby and everything changes. A doctor appointment turns an easy life in an untoward direction. A depressing day is turned into a day of joy by the answer of an encouraging phone call. Life changes in a twinkle. It may appear that change builds slowly and even appears to have no momentum at all. This deception leads to the idea that nothing is changing. The reality is that though a build-up appears to have little movement and may even be stagnant, change comes with sudden realization. It may be the sound of laughter from that beautiful girl that gains your attention, and suddenly you know, you belong to her. It take only a momentary look at your own newborn baby to realize that you are wrapped like a blanket with care. In the twinkling of an eye life changes. As fixed to this life as we assume ourselves to be, we are taught that it can and will change with sudden impact. And like so many changes, we cannot imagine how vastly different our lives can be in the twinkling of an eye. Russ

Welcome Levi!! Levi William Downs arrived on Thursday evening (October 13, 2011 at 9:08 PM) at the OU Medical Center. He weighed-in at 6 pounds and 7 ounces, and was a full 21 inches in length. He is quite handsome (of course), and doing well. Mom and Dad (Joe and Talsie) are proud, and older brothers (Micaiah and J.R.) are excited. Lolly is out of control.
