collected from the pits present in the area. The analysis results of these samples have revealed the Fe grade of about 61-64%. Proposed to be carried out As a part of the exploration program it is proposed to drill 23nos. of bore holes with DTH drilling to a total depth of 1640m. Some pits are also planned for Mn ore. The exploration program will be completed within two years from the grant of lease. MINING The proposed mining method will be mechanized open-cast method, in which the waste and ores will be removed/handled by means of systematic bench formation. Benches will be opened along the strike and height and width shall be maintained at 8m and 10m. Overall slope of the benches will be maintained at 450 gradient. The applicant proposed to deploy hydraulic excavators for progressing benches and for handling ore/waste material. Most of the ore to be excavated is soft and drilling and blasting techniques will be used for hard formations. Wagon drills and diesel driven compressors will be used for deep-hole drilling, Wheel loaders and tippers are used for mloading and dumping of waste material/ore. Ore reef will be blasted, if necessary, handled and loaded by excavators/wheel loaders into tippers of 10 T capacity and transported to proposed crushing/screening plant for bifurcation of ROM into calibrated ore and fines. Haul road gradient will be maintained at 1:16. Proposed rate of production when the mine is fully developed: When the mine is fully developed, a targeted production of 10.0 lakh tons of iron ore and 0.15 tons of Manganese ore can be achieved by the end of this 5 year plan period. Mineable reserves and anticipated life of the Mine Estimated Minable Reserves 12.61 million tons Average rate of production per year during five 4.69 lakh ton year plan Expected rate of production after five year plan 10.15 lakh ton Thus anticipated life of mine 13.37 Years Extent of Mechanization: Extent of Manual and /or machine mining The mine will be operated completely by mechanical means. Drilling & Blasting Drilling and blasting techniques will be used for hard formations. Wagon drills and truck mounted diesel driven compressors will be used for drilling. Conceptual Mining Plan The estimated mineable reserves including proved and probable reserves from this area are of the order of 12.61 million tons. Conceptual mining plan is prepared for 15 years as the life of mine of 13.37 years. Ultimate oit limit is fixed keeping pit slope angle of 450 . In the first 5 yr plan period, 10.02 ha (8.12 ha for iron ore reef area and 1.90 for Mn ore zone) area is earmarked for mining. Apart from this around 12.83 ha of area is proposed to use for float ore extraction in first two years of mining plan period. MINE DRAINAGE The mining activity will be concentrated on the top portions of the hill range. The monsoon water gets drained off through the natural valleys. Suitable garland drains will be made in the mine benches and haul roads, so that water flows out of the mining area in to the valleys where the construction of check dams is proposed. Hence, the accumulation of rain water within the pit limit in monsoon is negligible. Moreover, the proposed mining depth is well above the ground water level, so there is no ground water seepage in to the workings. As part of the soil conservation measures seven check dams in the major valleys will be constructed. Above these check dams, 57nos. gully checks will be erected to check the velocity of rainwater and reduce the silt volume in the check dams. Apart from this, two retention walls will be built around foot of each dump. DISPOSAL OF WASTE Nature of waste: Overburden laterite capping on the ore body and side burden ferruginous shale is the waste material to be handled during mining. The waste quantity handled in each year are

UPLIFTMENT OF POOR SECTION OF SOCIETY Cultivable waste land in the study area is about 3755 Ha. Due to increasing pressure on land for growing food grains etc., adequate attention has not been given to the cultivation of fodder crops and fruit bearing plants. Further, on account of diversified use of agriculture residues, the gap between the demand and supply of fodder is increasing. Phased wise plantation will be carried out in this cultivable waste land by the farmers who they are near to mine vicinity. In this phased wise fodder farm plantation, the mine management would provide the necessary efforts like nursery rising for fodder & fuel-wood, field demonstrations, motivation and awareness programme and training to the development of farm. This will generate the additional employment opportunity and income for secured livelihood in rural areas which is near to the proposed project area.
