Skills and Other Information

I know how to do basic computer tasks (Internet, e-mail, word processing, program installation, etc.) I am also skilled in flyer and page design using Microsoft Publisher and Adobe PageMaker. I know how to use Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows. I also write for and maintain a book review blog at http://cjsbookshelf.blogspot.com. In my capacities as a newspaper editor and as an office assistant, I have worked on editing documents, layouts and transcribing memos. I am good at catching spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes and very rarely do I let such mistakes slip. I have also worked as a cashier for two different companies and have had immediate, professional contact with customers. In my Library Science program, I have learned how to use new technologies such as podcasting, wikis and basic web design and how to apply these in helping people with their information needs. Because the majority of this program is conducted online, I have to be self-motivated and prioritize my time. I am willing and able to learn new skills. I can get along with people well and I know how to deal with unexpected problems that arise.
