GUIDE-LINES FOR PREPARING THE SEMINAR REPORT SEMESTER V (CSE/IT) General:

1. Remember that your seminar report should be an honest report of the work done by you, content rather than size is important. 2. Take care about physical layout, diagrams, charts, etc. They should be properly numbered and referred to. 3. Take extreme care about language grammar, spelling and style. 4. No. of copies to be prepared : 1 (Spiral Binding) 5. Maximum no. of pages should be : 20

Contents of a Technical Report:


1. Title page as per college/University convention (inside coverage). 2. Certificate from the college under you worked. 3. Acknowledgements: generally for your guide/s, various help received, discussions held, etc. Remember we stand on the shoulders of many people; here is a place to thank them. 4. Abstract/synopsis of work assigned /Specification of the work entrusted to you in clear language. 5. Index(Table of contents) 6. Content of your seminar topic 7. Conclusion and future expansion 8. References and Bibliography

Physical Details:
Report should be preferably on A4 size paper (assuming the page number at bottom) all drawing should be neatly drawn. Do not use many colors and decorations, it does not add to the value of the report and distracts attention. Line Spacing: 1 Heading: Times New Roman 16 bold

Sub Heading: Times New Roman 14 bold Font Ordinary Typing: Times New Roman 12

MARGINS:
Margins for pages including the regular text should be as below: Left : 1.2 Inches

Right : 1.0 Inches Top : 1.0 Inch

Bottom: 1.0 Inch

CONTENTS:
Following should be the order of contents for the report. This order should be strictly maintained. I. II. III. Cover Page College/ Institute Certificate

Acknowledgement (generally for your guide(s), various help received, discussion held, etc. . . Remember we stand on the shoulders of many people; here is the place to thank them) IV. Abstract/synopsis of work assigned or entrusted to you in clear language. V. Notations, Naming Convention and Abbreviations VI. List of Figures ( if applicable) VII. List of Tables ( if applicable) VIII. Index(Table of Contents) (Format given at the end) IX. Contents of your seminar topic X. References XI. Conclusion

NUMBERING
All pages in the report except the cover page and certificate page must be numbered. All the page numbers should be located at the BOTTOM RIGHT of the page. The page numbering starting from acknowledge up to the index should be numbered in small roman letters, i.e. i, ii, The page numbering starting from the beginning of the content of your seminar topic up to the end of the report, should be numbered in Arabic numerals, i.e. 1,2, 3,.
