Chapter 1 Installation materials Survey Description


1.1. About Microwave survey
Microwave includes three type survey, and Installation survey will be described detailed. 1, Installation Materials survey Installation Materials survey plays a very important role in a project. An accurate, detailed and valuable survey report not only provides very important basis for correct goods delivery of Huawei, but also gives important data and reference information for subsequent engineering design, suite delivery and project construction. 2, Site survey To establish precise geographic positions (coordinates) and ground elevations of proposed sites, later used in radio frequency interference(RFI) calculations and frequency coordination activities; To determine tower conditions, tower heights, the minimum and maximal available antenna height, whether there are obstacles or not around the tower; 3, LOS survey (Line Of Sight) Surveyor performs the survey of microwave transmission paths to accomplish the following important objectives: To verify the free-space transmission conditions (i.e., sufficient clearances) can satisfy with the proposed path, Line Of Sight, whether there are obstructions along the path, and the obstacles heights; To identify any potential sources of reflections, either on-path or off-path, which could interfere with normal operation of the radio link;

1.2. Preparations for Survey


1.2.1. Liaison Meeting for survey
Prior to the field verification survey, the PM of Huawei and the surveyors shall have a meeting together with the customer. The purposes and schedule of the survey should be defined clearly on this liaison meeting.

1.2.3. Prepare documentation


Before the survey, you should prepare the following documents: <OptiX RTN 600 Product Description> <Microwave Installation Environment Checking Form> <Guide to Microwave project Installation Materials Survey> <Microwave Installation Materials Survey Report> < Survey Checklist> Learn the OptiX RTN 600 Product Description to know the specifications, hardware features, and installation preparations of the OptiX RTN 600. The knowledge helps survey engineers to obtain comprehensive information of survey sites and to provide a highquality survey report.

1.2.4. Prepare tools


Here following are the tools for the site survey: S/N 1 2 3 4 Tools Laptop Tapeline Digital Camera Rangefinder Description With Pathloss link budget calculation software or equivalent. To measure the dimension of equipment room or cable tray/bridge length. To snap the tower profile, to snap facing the opposite site to check the near zone clearance. To measure the dimension of equipment room or cable tray/bridge length. Remark Optional Compulsory Optional Optional

1.3. Onsite Survey


For ready sites, carry out the engineering survey. For construction data of the equipment room, tower height, available power reservation, and other data, ask the companies from the customer. For other data, make a record according to the survey results. Carry out the survey based on the requirements of the contract and the survey report. Survey carefully every item and record data in detail to ensure everything written in the Survey Report to be realistic.

1.4. Survey report making


Survey engineers shall provide the survey report by referring to chapter 2.

Chapter 2 Guide to make Installation Materials survey report


Upon return to the home office, the surveyor should immediately begin preparation of his report using the standard report form to insure uniformity of format and content. The standard report should include survey information form and photographs of the site, towers, and down-path.

2.1. Cover
Fill in the cover of a survey report correctly. A survey report includes basic information about contract, engineering, survey, and personnel.

2.1.1.

Customer Name

Fill in the full name of Party A in the contract, such as Posts and Telecom Materials Parent Company in Jilin Province. Note that Party A may not be the final user.

2.1.2.

Contract No.

Please fill in the contract No. correctly. Example of a contract No.: 0710510506150A.

2.1.3.

Quotation No.

Fill in the final contract quotation number of an office corresponding to the data in the survey report, and you can get Quotation list from requisition for engineering survey.

The cover of the survey report includes such related information as the customer name (or regional offices), telephone number, fax, and contact person, which must be filled in the electronic survey report returned to Huawei.

2.2. Engineering Site Catalog


Normally, a contract includes multiple sites and one survey report may only include part of the sites mentioned in the contract, so a survey report should provide the number of surveyed sites.

2.2.1.

Sites Name

The site name in the survey report must be the same as that in the quotation. If the actual site name is different from that in the quotation, clearly write the site name in the quotation just after the actual site name. For example, the actual site name is "SITE A" and the site name in the quotation is "SITE X". When filling in the survey report, write "SITE A (SITE X)" at every place where the name of the site is mentioned. 2.2.2. Equipment Type

The information of the RTN 600 must be clearly stated, including the specification (SDH/PDH) and capacity. The RTN 600 is available in two types, RTN 610 and RTN 620.

2.2.3.

Engineering Type

The new, expansion and reconstructed project types are available.

2.2.4.

Survey phase

Previous survey, current survey, next survey and neednt survey are available. Please write down the reason when selecting neednt survey.

2.3. Site Survey Information


The site information includes the basic information of a microwave site, the indoor condition, the outdoor condition, and various figures. The figures include the indoor cabling diagram of the microwave site, the installation position of the equipment (photo or drawing), the outdoor cabling diagram of the microwave site, the location and height of the feeder hole (photo or drawing), and the outdoor spacing of the microwave site (photo or drawing). The data must be carefully collected and recorded to guarantee that the project can be smoothly carried out.

2.3.1.

Site information

1, Hop Name or Description Hop Name or Description, 1 hop includes 2 sites. Please write down the hop name or description, if you survey by hop.1 hop includes 2 sites. 2, Site name The detailed location of a site must be provided, including the street name, building name, and building number. If possible, the site number should be provided, like 404H and 418L. In this way, one can clearly know the quantity of microwave equipment sets that use the site and know whether the site is a primary site or a nonprimary site. 2.3.2. Installation materials

The following is a sketch map of a Equipment room. The manufacturing and delivery information needs the data on the indoor conditions of a microwave site. Hence, the survey engineer must carefully conduct the survey and record the results according to the facts.

Floor height (mm) If new cabinets/racks are to be added, specify this item. Otherwise, skip this item. The purpose is to check if the antistatic floor is installed in the equipment room. If not, Huawei will not ship the support unless the customer requires it. If yes, fill the height of the antistatic floor from the cement floor to the upper surface of the antistatic floor in the survey report. The survey engineer is required to use a steel rule to measure the height at the place where the rack will be installed in person. Check if there are cables, holes or other obstacles at the place where the rack will be installed. If yes, report them to the customer and coordinate with the customer to solve the problems for the convenience of equipment installation. The height of the antistatic floor refers to the vertical distance between the cement floor and the upper surface of the antistatic floor.

2.3.3. 1)

IF cable and E1 cable survey Total length of IF cable/feeder (m)

Estimate the length of the IF cable in the equipment room (with a slack of 5%) and check if the total length of the IF cable (indoors and outdoors) is not longer than 300 meters. In the OptiX RTN 600, the IF cable can only be a maximum of 300 meters. When the total length of the IF cable does not exceed 300 meters, check the route of the IF cable in the equipment room. In addition, check if all turns of the IF cable meet the required bending radius. If not, re-design the route of the IF cable in the equipment room. 2) Resistance of 2 Mbit/s trunk cable

Check whether the impedance of the 2 Mbit/s trunk cable that already exists in the equipment room is 75 ohm or 120 ohm. Depending on the survey result, decide the impedance of the 2 Mbit/s trunk cable to be used in the OptiX RTN 600. The impedance of the 2 Mbit/s trunk cable may be 75 ohm or 120 ohm. Which impedance will be used is decided by the survey result. 3) 2M trunk cable length (m)

After the IDU installation position is determined, estimate the length of the 2M trunk cable when it is connected to the corresponding port.

2.3.4.

Power and ground Cable length Power type

Follow the steps below to check the power type: a) Check if the base station uses the mains supply. If not, make a detailed record. b) Check the voltage of the AC power in the equipment room. If the voltage is not 220 V (Huawei product uses the 220 V AC), make a record. c) Check if the number of the unused output terminals on the AC distribution cabinet meets the requirement of this project. d) Check the input and output voltages of the DC power supply in the equipment room. If the output DC voltage is not between -48 V and -72 V, deliver the DC power

supply that can be used in the OptiX RTN 600 (the normal working voltage of the OptiX RTN 600 is between -48 V and -72 V) when delivering the equipment. e) If the output DC voltage meets the power requirement of the OptiX RTN 600, check if the number of the unused output terminals on the DC distribution cabinet meets the requirement of this project. f) Check if the available power capacity in the equipment room meets the requirement of future equipment upgrades. The power type may be -48/-60 V DC, +24 V DC, 110/220 V AC, or others. If you fill "others", provide the exact power type. 2) Power cable length

After the IDU installation position is determined, estimate the length of the power cable when it is connected to the connection box. 3) Grounding cable length (m)

After the IDU installation position is determined, estimate the length of the grounding cable between the IDU and the reasonable and effective grounding point.

2.3.5. 1)

Other Modules (for new add) New UPM Model220V to 48V

Select "yes" or "no" according to the actual configuration situation. 2) UPM installation mode

An UPM can be installed on a desk, on the wall, in a 19-inch rack, or in an ETSI cabinet. Select an installation mode according to the situation in the equipment room of the site. 3) AC Power cable length

Fill the AC power cable length of UPM from UPM to AC power supply.

2.3.6.

Path cord survey

1) Peer-end connector type of the Patch cords Select the Peer-end connector type according to the actual configuration situation, the type of LC/PC is defaulted. 2) Patch cords length (m) Delivery according to the quotation length (10m), please fill the actual length if you have special request.
