Psychology Introduction to Psychology is a scientific study of behavior.

It introduces selected topics of psychological study and the skills and methods of psychological experimentation. The course emphasizes biological and environmental influence, intelligence and learning, personality, and behavior patterns. World Civilizations World Civilizations surveys the development of civilization with a focus on the modern era (1500 to present). In this course, the student is introduced to and uses the skills and concepts of history, geography, economics, political science, the behavioral sciences, and the humanities. Special emphasis is placed on developing chronological, spatial, and cultural perspectives that were introduced in the seventh-grade World Civilizations course. Survey of the Social Sciences The Survey of the Social Sciences course will provide a broad-based foundation in the Social Sciences by focusing on understanding the world through political, economic, and geographic perspectives. Special emphasis is placed on critical thinking, informed decision-making, problem solving, and the use of social sciences processes. AP Human Geography AP Human Geography is a year long course that focuses on the distribution, processes and effects of human populations on the planet. Units of study include: Geography its Nature and Perspectives, Population, Cultural Patterns and Processes, Political Geography, Agricultural and Rural Land Use, Industrial and Development, and Cities and Urban Land Use. Particular emphasis is placed on geographic models and their applications. This course is considered equivalent to a freshman-level introductory course in the subject. AP Psychology AP Psychology will introduce students to the scientific study and principles of the behavior and mental processes of humans (and other animals). Students will become familiar with the principles and phenomena associated with major subfields of psychology. Students will also learn how scientific methodology is utilized in applied psychology and will learn to hone critical thinking skills. This course is considered equivalent to a freshman-level introductory course in the subject. AP World History The AP World History course is an academic yearlong course with an emphasis on nonWestern history. In AP World History students will study the evolution of global processes and contacts including interactions over time. The course relies heavily on college-level texts, primary source documents, and outside readings. Students will be required to participate in class discussions, individual work, and group projects. A special emphasis will be given to historical writing through comparative, change over time, and document based essay questions.
