A NOT E FROM OU R PASTOR

M y g o o d Pe o p le o f St . A l b e r t t h e G re a t:
Fall has arrived and with it many changes have arrived, some wanted and some unexpected. 1. The Priests residence is nearing completion. Our hope is to move into the residence by the beginning of November. 2. I want to thank Janina Galica for her donation of the St. Vincent De Paul collection boxes as at the entrances to the Church. They were beautifully crafted by Jozef Smalec and Marcin Plewa. Thank You for your hard work and dedication. 3. Fr. DeSalvo has offered 2 parts of his 3 part series on the changes in the English translation of the Roman Missal. Although technical at times, his presentations have been well received. There is still a chance this Wednesday at 7:00pm to hear his concluding presentation. 4. A little over two weeks ago I phoned Fr. Mol to see which mass he would be able to celebrate at St. Alberts the following Sunday. He informed me he was no longer available to help at St. Albert the Great. He said his schedule no longer permitted it. We want to thank him for his years of service to St. Albert the Great parish. May the Lord reward him for his kindness. 5. Last weekend was our first school Mass of the year. It was nice to see our school children gathered together to celebrate Sunday Mass. This will occur every third Sunday of the month at the 9:00 am Mass. Our CCD students will gather as a group the second Sunday of the month for the 9:00 am Mass. Their first gathering will be in the month of November. Our Polish School religion classes will gather monthly at the 1:30 pm Mass. It is important that we gather with them to demonstrate our unity and to offer God thanks for his great mercy and kindness toward us. 6. I want to thank Andrzej Kwak, Chris Dyszkiewicz and their families. They donated their time and energies to retiling the shrine of Our Lady and Blessed John Paul II and retiled the walls in the front vestibule around the statue of our patron. It has made our front entrance beautiful and inviting. May Our Lady and all the angels and saints watch over them and protect them. 7. At my first parish council meeting here at St. Albert the Great, the council brought up the need to make some changes in the mass schedule. They felt there was a need to offer an earlier option for Mass in Polish. I was hesitant to make changes at that time. Since the first meeting, I have also received petitions for Mass in Spanish. I have been praying over this for the last few months, asking the Lord how Fr. Richard and I can best serve the needs of this entire community. I believe there is a solution, but it will call for some sacrifice for the good of the whole. I hope to have a finalized plan by the end of the month. God Bless, Fr. Zoufal

We hope you will save the date and join us! LIVING JUSTLY

You give that back right now! How many of us have heard that line, probably more than once, as we were growing up? We come home with the trophy of what we thought was a really sweet deal, only to have our parents undo our profits by making us return the spoils. They had a different idea of what constituted a fair trade agreement. Justice in our dealings with others continues to be an important measure of our character, and like a good parent, God cares very much about how we treat each other and about how others treat us. God hears the cry of the poor, and answers the call of the oppressed. Gods beloved children are not to behave like bullies. Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

OUR WEEKLY OFFERING OCTOBER 15 & OCTOBER 16, 2011 Collection: $14,575.00 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

ARCHDIECESE OF CHICAGO Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord Jesus,

October, 2011

During October, the Catholic Church in the United States draws special attention to the issues affecting human dignity in what is commonly known as Respect Life Month. Offenses against human beingswhether from abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, the death penalty, or in scientific experimentationare discussed and prayed for with the intensity called for by their seriousness. Just last month, the American people paused to remember those who died because of a callous and horrific disregard for human life: the attacks on our nation on September 11, 2001. What I found most touching about the 9/11 coverage were the stories of the impact that every person who died had on their family, friends, co-workers and community. The loss of each person reverberated far beyond their own lives to others. In remembering the attacks on our nation, Pope Benedict XVI noted that, Every human life is precious in Gods sight and no effort should be spared in the attempt to promote throughout the world a genuine respect for the inalienable rights and dignity of individuals and peoples everywhere. One of the ways in which we show our genuine respect for the dignity of all people is by welcoming those with different abilities into our midst when we gather in our parishes for worship. Participation in Inclusion Awareness Sunday, sponsored by the Pathways Awareness Foundation, helps parish communities to learn about the different ways in which our facilities and our programs can be more mindful of those among us with physical or developmental disabilities so that they can fully participate in parish life. However, to have a real and lasting impact, we must extend our efforts beyond Respect Life Month. I would ask each of you to consider taking one action every week throughout the year to welcome and include parishioners of all abilities into your parish family. Each one of us can participate in this effort; together we can open our communities so that everyone feels welcome to participate in worship, ministries and fellowship every day of the year. You and those you love are in my prayers every day; please keep me and the needs of the Archdiocese of Chicago in yours. Sincerely yours in Christ, Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
