Change in Retail
Competitive market with a great number of competitors in every region of the country
The company needs to adapt constantly to changes driven by the industry and also by the customers (improved and new services and products)
Daily business operation changes frequently, mainly in sales, logistics and payment areas. Business innovation requires that IT has a dynamic platform to provide solutions on time and on budget Operation problems because business data were not updated caused customer complaints

Improve Process Accuracy SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 Live @ CARSA Red Megatone
Challenges and Opportunities Need to improve and adopt new services for customers in a fast and effective way Daily operation changes frequently, mainly in sales, logistics and payment areas Objectives Improve employee productivity via tailored application Eliminate delays between the POS and the logistic system to provide accurate data to the business and offer a better purchase experience to the customer Business process optimization
100% Real Time Information No delays, 100% Data Accuracy
Benefits
Master data, pricing and conditions are now centralized in SAP ERP and not replicated in both systems (SAP ERP & POS) as previously implemented Stock information is updated in real time, in both systems (SAP and POS). Previously business objects were updated every 3 or 12 hours, depending of which data was transferred and the number of transactions. Operation problems because business data were not updated were eliminated. Example: Selling goods that were not available in the warehouse, pricing differences, etc.

SOA enabled to integrate several information providers with a standardized set of services for the POS consumer system Open platform provides flexibility & speed to deliver new ideas and solutions, reusing existing functionality Enterprise Services could be reused in other known processes with similar needs Support time and effort from operations area (IT) reduced in all interface related activities, thanks to all .txt file interfaces that were replaced by online enterprise services Delivery of better solutions with less budget, thanks to the reuse of existing services provided by SAP systems Provisioning of well documented services and their interfaces to allow the reuse of these services by other processes We believe that using PI is the best way to integrate our legacy systems with SAP, it provides several technical options to integrate heterogeneous systems.

SAP NetWeaver PI is defined as the central ESB For some scenarios only other integration technologies or direct connections are used currently; we plan to replace those in the future with SAP NetWeaver PI
No, the performance is great If we would have performance issues, then business critical scenarios would not be working, the company would not be able to deliver products to customers in the sales room:
Stock level check Cannot finish billing, stock update and accounting posting online delivery stopped

The ES Repository and Services Registry equip us with the tools we need for our SOA governance. The AAE enables us to use the PI also for synchronous scenarios with user interaction due to the much faster message processing.
PI is now much more open and accessible towards development environments. PI developers will love several features like Function Libraries, parameterized mapping.

Collecting, enrichment and transfer data triggered by SAP ERP using ccBPM
Objectives
Usage of integrated standard solution. In the past this scenario would have been implemented with several scripts, and several single interfaces using different technologies and monitoring tools. Now we just have one! With ccBPM monitoring it is now possible to check at which state the interface currently is.
Objectives
Enable faster, tighter integration between multiple systems across enterprises Immediate feedback about data transfer and validation checks in advance of the transfer Reduced effort for resources (file shares, ) Reduced maintenance costs

It is a relieve to see how SAP respects the Java openness in SAP NetWeaver: A Java programmer easily finds his way now. SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is our key technology to integrate the outside world. The transition to SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 went smoothly given the fact that the supporting Java programs easily could be re-used in the new environment.
