STITCH EXPLANATION:

V-st pattern (multiple of 3) Ch a multiple of 3 + 6 extra. Row 1: Working in 6th ch from hook, * (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st -- V-st made, sk 2 ch, rep from *, dc in last st. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work Vst in ch-1 sp of each V-st in previous row, dc in 3rd ch of beg-ch. Turn each row. Rep Row 2 for V-st pattern. V-st dec (Yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) in next V-st, (yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) in top of ch 3, yo, draw through all lps on hook. dc2tog (dc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a lp, yarn over and draw through 2 lps. Work 17 rows total or until piece measures 18 in. [46 cm] from beg. Fasten off.
