Linens of Love Project - While the Senior High Youth Group was down at Navajo Ministries in New Mexico, it came to our attention that the on-site foster homes are in need of new bedding for the children. The Senior High Youth group is collecting new twin size bedding sets (comforter & sheets). These will be taken down to Navajo Ministries children's homes in January. If you'd prefer to make a monetary donation that would be fine as well. All bedding and donations need to be at church by December 31st. If you have any questions, please contact Angie Dykema. Note to Committee Chairpersons - You should have received a Budget Request paper for 2012 from Bill Grysen. Please mark whether your ministry needs the same budget funds next year, and return to a deacon today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS Handy-man Needed - If any members have interest to teach home maintenance skills, please contact a deacon or Jose Abreu, who recently purchased a house. Care Packages for College Students - Once again it is that time of year to let our college students know we are thinking about them. The Girls Club will be packing boxes for our 11 college students (5 girls, 6 guys) on November 2. There is a box in the hallway in which to place your contributions towards these packages. Any questions see Pam Himebook or Carin Hartwell. Please Reserve Last Two Rows of Chairs Cedar session would request that the congregation reserve the final two rows of chairs in the gymnasium for visitors, late comers and families with small children. We hope this helps us serve the needs of our growing church family. School Building Reminders Cold weather will soon confine us indoors. Lets remember to be good stewards and thoughtful tenants of the building. Here are a few reminders: 1. For safety and security reasons, kids should not run, horseplay or wander in the back hallways, or run and horseplay in the front hallways after services. 2. Please respect all school property in the hallway and in classrooms. When in doubt, ask yourself, Would a school teacher allow a student to do this during a normal school day? Lakeshore Pregnancy Centers will be offering new volunteer client advocate training sessions starting November 1, and would love to invite you to get involved. Each client advocate is trained and prepared to minister one-on-one to women at Lakeshore Pregnancy Center. If you feel called to this area of service, or for more information you can email us at kari.wiersema@lpcenters.com or by calling 616.895.1893.

ANNOUNCEMENTS The 11th Annual Patriotic Hymn Sing to honor our veterans will be held November 6th, at 7:30 PM in the First Jenison Christian Reformed Church (Cottonwood at 10th Ave.). Singing will be led by Bob Brouwer and the Pine Grove Church Praise Band from Howard City, along with the organ. A color guard and the Georgetown Fire Department will also participate. All veterans will be invited to participate in the closing ceremony. Help for the Holidays through Love Inc - Can you be part of helping a family(ies) in need at Thanksgiving through Love INC? Also, please consider how you might bless those facing difficult times by providing a Christmas dinner basket and/or gifts for families or individuals at Christmas. If you would like to provide holiday help for one or more families, please contact Love INC at 616-662-3300. My Personal experience as a LOVE Budget Counselor
That the program is less about financial directions and more about establishing personal disciplines. More about being a life anchor point for a client than an answer man. More about listening than telling. More about prayer for and with a client and less about personally fixing things. More about being a practical Christian and less about being a perfect person.

- Larrry VanderVeen, LOVE Inc. Budget Counselor

CHRISTMAS OUTREACH This Christmas, God will prompt millions of people around the world to attend church. For some reason, people who dont normally go to church will make a decision to do so at Christmas. What can you do? Invite Your Friends Would you consider inviting someone who doesnt go to church to join you on Sunday, December 11th for morning worship and our Christmas Luncheon at 11 AM? A neighbor with no family nearby, an unchurched coworker, or a long time friend are all more likely to say yes to a church invitation at Christmas. 1 out of 4 people report saying yes to a personal invitation to church the first time they are asked! Would you commit to invite at least three un-churched friends and/or family members? 1. _____________ 2. _____________ 3. _____________ Prayer If you are hesitant to invite people you know to church, you can begin by taking the less-intimidating step of praying for your friends (listed above) and the church during our Christmas outreach. Would you commit to pray daily? Yes, I will pray daily! Servant Evangelism This holiday, we want to make one thousand (1,000) evangelistic touches in our ministry area through servant evangelism. Servant Evangelism is sharing the love and message of Jesus Christ through practical acts of service and kindness in a biblically, fun, simple and intentional way. Holiday Parade Our first servant evangelism project will be at the Hudsonville Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 19, at 10 AM. Cedar Church will be handing out hot chocolate and 1000 invitations to church along the parade route. We need your help! Sign up through our connection cards or see Pastor Steve. Special Sermon Series On outreach Sunday, December 11th, Pastor Steve will begin his advent sermon series entitled The Miracle of Christmas, a series on the benefits of redemption received through Christ. We will also have special gift books as a way of saying thank you to our guests that day.
