TECH -A -THON

ELIGIBILITY: Open for all branches and all years TEAMS: A team should consist of maximum 4 members. Members of a team can be from any year and any branch.

OVERVIEW: On the basis of a problem statement, participants need to design a non-workable model satisfying all the criteria mentioned in their problem statement. To build their model, theyll be provided with various parts and materials which will be kept in different counters (i.e. on desks/ tables) from which they have to choose. But to access any material from any counter, each time the participants need to crack a puzzle (or a short quiz). Number of attempts to approach any counter will be limited. OBJECTIVE: To stimulate ones creativity and imagination. To judge ones planning abilities. To test how tech savvy one is.

ROUND 1: Every team has to pick up a chit describing their Problem Statement. Every team will have a unique problem statement. The Problem Statement: It will describe the basic theme of the model to be designed. Some basic characteristics. Some basic functionalities of the model.

Example: TEAM 1: It is an automobile. It can run on rocky terrain. It can also be driven on water.

ROUND 2: The teams need to start thinking on their problem statement and jot down (mentally) the materials required to build their model. Contestants are allowed to scan every counter to see what all materials are available. Every team has to then approach the counters, crack their puzzle, and collect the material. No. of turns allowed to approach any counter will be limited. (Limit to be decided later) The Counter Access Puzzle: It will be related to general technical topics. Participants need not have any pre-requisite knowledge about any programming language or electronics, etc to crack them. Can be related to any recent or day to day technical news or gadgets, etc. The puzzle can be of any form-- riddle, picture quiz, word scramble, picture scramble, number game, Identify the personality?, etc.

NOTE: a team unable to crack any particular puzzle can ask for clues at the cost of a punishment (a funny and interesting one- decided by the organizers). This rule will be kept secret and will be revealed only when a team is found struggling for the answer. ROUND 3: The teams need to assemble the parts to build their final structure. NOTE: Collection and assembling of parts can be done simultaneously in round 2 itself to save time. WINNIG CRITERIA: The time taken to complete the task. Whether all the criteria mentioned in the problem statement are met or not. The creativity involved. The credibility of the idea. The logic used behind proving the credibility of the idea. The feasibility of the model for future practical applications.

NOTE: The rules are subject to change.

REQUIREMENTS: A classroom. 3 or 4 table/ desks for the counters. Parts, materials, adhesives, etc for building the models.

NOTE: the structures need not be huge. They can be small to save the cost on procuring the materials. The basic idea is to identify future innovators.
