QUESTIONS FOR INTERVIEW:

Q.1. The main exports of Pakistan comprises of textiles both in raw and finished form.
Cotton makes up the main proportion of these exports. Government plays its role in
facilitating the exports of textile goods. What is your opinion in this regard? Are these
facilities enough?

Q. 2. Exports are done through the aerial and sea roots. Now that Karachi is the biggest
outlet for exports in Pakistan, the textile exporters while the exporting their goods face
various problems at the ports. Usually the shipments get late, which puts a bad
impression in front of the foreign importers. What in your opinion can be the reasons for
these problems?

Q. 3. Pakistan ranks as the fourth largest cotton producing country in the world, meeting
substantial requirements of its growing textile industry and providing sufficient surplus
for export. Karachi port operations are not satisfactory in terms of handling the exports
cargoes. With such inefficient operations, how do you see the future of textile exports in
Pakistan?

Q. 4. Problems like delays in clearance, payments of rebates, slow movements of goods,

excessive documentation are present in the Karachi port. These all degrade the image of
Pakistani textile exporters. As KCA endeavors to introduce the cotton trade and projects
the image of Pakistan cottons in world market, how can these problems be handled?

Q. 5. The rate of textile exports in Pakistan is not so satisfactory. There are so many
problems for that like high yarn prices, imposition of anti-dumping duty, delay in
clearance etc. Do you think that the delay in clearance of textile exports is the major
problem and what are the main reasons for this delay?

Q.6. As Karachi Custom Authority is the largest exporting station of the country that
handles about 70% of the total export volume. But still there is a lack of automation and
modernization of the computer hardware and software and other machinery. Is
government playing any role for the re-engineering of the system & what measures are
being taken for this purpose?

Q.7. Karachi Port is providing its services to facilitate textile exports. To revolutionize
the port operations & freight management the National Logistic Cell is providing the
accomodation & warehousing facilities for containerized cargo. But still these facilities
are not enough to accommodate the goods. What is your opinion in this regard?
