INTRODUCTION

Construction surveying or setting out is to stake out reference points and markers that will guide the construction of new structures such as roads or buildings. Setting out is generally performing existing conditions of the future work site, including topography, existing buildings and infrastructure, and even including underground infrastructure whenever possible. After finishing our three previous surveying works (leveling, traverse and tacheometric ), we then continue our surveying work with setting out. Setting out can be defined as the process of using the surveying instruments and techniques described in preceding chapters to transfer information from a plan to the ground. There are three distinct elements to the task horizontal control to ensure that the new works are in the correct place, vertical control to ensure that they are at the correct level and vertical alignment to ensure that multi-storey or underground construction is plumb. Information on the drawing concerning the proposed works must be transferred to the ground in a format that can be understood by all levels of the workforce on site.

PROCEDURE 1. The traverse and tacheometry plan were used which is from previous project.
2. A suitable area was selected for suggestion of a building construction in the traverse

area. 3. A line of traverse and a station were taken as observation station.

4. Station 2 was chosen as control point and line station 2 to station 3 as a reference line. 5. Bearing and distance of every point of the building area were determined by using

AutoCAD.
6. Setting out work was started. 7. The total station were set at station 2 and observed at station 3. Bearing station 2 to 3

were set as reference bearing.

8. Then bearing station 2 to point A was set to determine the point A location.

9. The pole and mini prism were moved to get exact distance.
10. Measurement the distance were done on point A,B,C,D,E and F. Every point was

marked with a picket.

11. After finish, recheck can be done by measure the distance using measuring tape.

12. The shape of the building was produced. 13. The plotting building points were done in Techeometry plan by using AutoCAD and setting out plan was produced and report was done.

DISCUSSION Setting out work is done to get the design point for a building after the tacheometry

survey work. An area is selected in the traverse areas as a site project to build the building in this survey work, a systematic management is important to make the work flow is easy to do. The field work must finish first to get the bearing and distance that will be use in setting out survey work. To determine the bearing and the distance, calculation should be done on the plan for each point of the building that we want to build. The purpose field work is just to mark the point which has been plot in the purpose building plan. Based on our traverse area, we plan a building that is an L shaped bungalow inside the boundary of the traverse. First each corner point of the building that we want to build is set out using pickets.

The setting out work is done, recheck to make sure every peg is in a right location. Diagonal method is use in this process. Total station must be in a good condition and also the peg location must be in the right place to determine the point location precisely to avoid the error.

CONCLUSION

The setting out work was done, we had made a conclusion about determine the point at the building that we want to build. From our tacheometry work, we are able to determine the site, to locate the new building that is going to be constructing. From the purpose building plan, we designed the building location and transfer it to the ground surface. If the setting out was not accurate, the building that we want to build would not be at the correct location and size. This will contribute a lot of problems while and after the construction work. Hence, the accuracy of the setting out is very important to guarantee the comfort and safety to the people. From all these data that we have, we have set the exact location for the building by using pegs.
