NET Framework 4 RTM for OEM Environments


This release is to provide an ISO that contains the .NET Framework 4 RTM (build version 4.0.30319.01) to OEMs for testing purposes. The following Operating Systems are supported:

Contents of this OEM supplement release


This OEM supplement release contains the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile and .NET Framework 4 Full packages for all available platforms (x86, x64 and ia64) for the operating systems listed above. Language Packs are not included in this release. There are two methods for installing .NET Framework 4 for the OEMs. (A) a default installation and (B) the OPK. The OPK is designed for an optimized install speed for the factory floor.

A. Default Installation (without using OPK)


If you wish to perform a default installation of .NET Framework 4 without using the OPK, please install the required SKU of the .NET Framework from the following relative path within this ISO.

Note: There is no Client Profile SKU of .NET Framework 4 on ia64.

B. Installation using the OPK


Step 1: Check the Prerequisites
Before you run the setup, make sure that the target computer meets the following software and hardware prerequisites:

Windows Installer 3.1 is a prerequisite for all installations. On all platforms, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 is required.

Step 2:

Extract contents of the ISO to a network share, such as D:\dotNET4

Step 3: Prepare your base Operating System Image.

(This step is NOT needed for Windows XP & Windows Server 2003)
1. Select the subfolder MSU under the extracted folder in step 1. 2. The MSU folder contains three subfolders ia64, x64 and x86 each containing .MSU files corresponding to each of the processor architecture types. Select the folder that matches your target operating system installation. 3. From this selected subfolder, install the matching .MSU file to the target base operating system image. Follow the Chart below.

Step 4: Install .NET Framework 4


This step applies to all the operating systems this OPK is released for. From the Windows Start menu, choose Run and enter the following command. 4.1 For x86 and x64 machines For Client Profile \\computer\share\Client\netfx40_client.bat For Full Profile \\computer\share\Full\netfx40.bat 4.2 For ia64 machines (Client Profile is not available on ia64 machines) For Full Profile
