the royal aeronautical society is proud to announce its annual applied aerodynamics research Conference between the 17-19 July 2012 in Bristol. Bristol is one of the major aerospace centres of the world. it lies some 120 miles west of London. several aerospace companies including, airbus, rolls-royce, Bae systems and thales operate here. it is renowned for two major universities with international connections. in 2010, Bristol commemorated 100 years of aviation in the city. Bristol is well connected to national and international transport and the date of the aerodynamics Conference has been chosen to dovetail with the Farnborough airshow (15-17 July 2012) and the royal international air tattoo (7-8 July).

the conference will primarily focus on the application of modelling and simulation in the aerodynamic design process and cover both the current state-of-the-art and future prospects with the intention of covering application across a broad spectrum ranging from civil and military aircraft, weapons and automotive. Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts covering aerodynamics and flight dynamics research of both a basic and applied nature in the following areas: Fundamental developments in modelling and simulation techniques in aerodynamics and the aerodynamic design process. the application of modelling to conventional and unconventional configurations for both civil and military application including morphing, blended wing/body configurations, highly integrated propulsion/airframe concepts. internal flows and combustion. the development and application of methods for complex, detached and bluff body flows. simulation and modelling towards fuel efficiency, operational implications, greener aircraft. computational tools. test programmes to provide validation data for computational tools. organising committee Novel control effectors. micro air vehicles. Flight dynamics. Automotive aerodynamics. dr trevor birch (dstL) david edinburgh (cd-Adapco) rodney irvine (mbdA) dr raj Nangia (Nangia Associates) Neil taylor (university of bristol) Prof clyde Warsop (bAe systems) Andrew Wood (rolls-royce)

the organising committee invites prospective authors to submit abstracts of original work for presentation at the conference. Abstracts should be written in english and contain between 800 - 1000 words and include figures and results. Authors should submit abstracts in electronic format only by monday 30 January 2012 quoting ref 667 to:
richard.nicholl@aerosociety.com
selection will be made on the abstract content and applicability to the final published programme requirement. technical enquiries should be addressed to the chairman of the organising committee via the above email:
Prof clyde Warsop (bAe systems)
the above list is not exhaustive and abstracts are invited in all aspects of aerospace dynamics. Abstracts both of scientific or general industrial focus are encouraged. in the case of scientific papers each abstract should include clear evidence of the maturity of the work, the validity of the content, the viability of the approach and the integrity of the results. Abstracts should contain a statement regarding the application and exploitation of results. in addition to papers submitted to this call, invited experts will give presentations covering the latest developments with relevance across a range of industrial sectors.
