M. Tech Thesis
I am doing thesis on project of Food Corporation of India (offered by Government of India) and Main objective is: Guide : Dr. RRK Sharma, Dept. of Industrial & Management Engineering, IIT Kanpur. Title : Food grains Distribution in India using Rail and Road Network.

Brief description: Using rail network for food grain distribution most cost effective. However due to uncertainty associated with rakes and wagon availability the distribution plans have poor service level record (based only on rail). In this work we suggest railways develop freight terminals (to be used for food grain transport) to effectively use rail and road network. Cost may go up but will ensure good service levels to customers of public distribution system (PDS) (or the ration shops). The research problem is about

locating freight terminals for railways so that overall cost of distribution (a rail and road network) and location cost (for freight terminals) is minimized for a grain service level to customers of PDS. To procure, store and distribute food grains throughout the country while giving effective price support to farmers and to maintain satisfactory level of buffer stocks to ensure National Food Security. In order to improve the efficiency of the existing processes, FCI is going to appoint consultant for conducting a study to assess the existing process and to suggest an improved system design for revamping the supply-chain management in the corporation.

Academic project (As part of M.Tech)

Supply Chain of BELMONTE brand of apparel: This project was a part of the Supply Chain Management course. The project includes: Analyzing and mapping of the existing supply chain Studying the best practices adopted and various issues in forecasting demands Suggesting the improvements that are necessary Term paper in Operations Management Term paper on Logistic Supply Chain Management with Transportation System Requirement Specification(SRS Model) : For a portable personal Medical Data Card Based Hospital System It provides brief overview of the functionality, system, reliability and other relevant attributes for portable personal medical data card based hospital system. This system aims at facilitating collection of complete medical records of a patient in the central database of the hospital as well as in a personal portable medical data card issued to the patient. The card is a read-write type with writing rights reserved by the parent hospital. However readable on any system with the help of a compatible card reader. This system targets multispecialty modern hospitals with branches across the country. Library Management System: A C++ application project for managing the functions of a library The Library Management System shall be required to maintain information about its users and books. It shall store databases for students, teachers and books.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

The student database stores information about a students roll no, name, address, course and year. The book database stores information about a book title, author, publisher, cost, bill number, year of publishing and pages. The teacher database stores information about a teachers id, name, department, and designation, address and telephone number. Quality Function Deployment of suitcase: This Project was a part of Design of Production System course Customer needs were identified through a small survey These needs(WHATS) together with the technical descriptors(HOWS) are then put in a house of quality matrix Inferences and conclusions were then drawn to show areas where efforts were required Ship docking Simulation: This project was a part of the Computer aided decision support system course A Simulation model was developed for ships arriving at multiple docks of a particular harbour The model was developed using ARENA software Different probability distribution are used for arrival and service times Decision Support System for Inventory Management: This project was a part of the Computer aided decision support system course. A decision support system was developed for calculating the Economic order quantity based on input given by the user This project was done by using HTML, PHP, Java Script and database concepts The application was developed for Continuous review policy and Periodic review policy
