2010 GARP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The GARP Scholarship Program was developed to provide future leaders in the risk profession the opportunity to obtain GARPs FRM or ERPTM certification. Scholarships cover the cost of the Exam Registration Fee only, for both the ERP and FRM Exam Part I. The scholarship is not available for the FRM Exam Part II. The awarding scholarships are based on merit and the final decision is the sole discretion of GARP. It is critical that you submit all required paperwork by the posted date of January 31, 2010, in order for your application to be considered. We will announce the recipients of the FRM / ERP Scholarships by Monday, February 15, 2010. Partially completed applications will not be considered. The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) Scholarship Application was instituted to provide future leaders in risk management the opportunity to obtain the FRM or ERP Certification. GUIDELINES: All Scholarship applications must agree to and act in accordance with GARPs Code of Conduct. GARP will begin accepting Scholarship Applications on December 1, 2009. The deadline for receipt of applications for the May Examination is January 31, 2010. Any application postmarked after January 31, 2010 will not be considered. There will not be exceptions. The Scholarship ONLY covers the cost of the Exam Registration Fee. Each candidate still must pay the Enrollment Fee (USD 300) in order to be eligible for a Scholarship Award. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, and the final decision is the sole discretion of GARP. Applicants who notify GARP that they would like to withdraw their application BEFORE being awarded a scholarship, are eligible to re-apply the next exam period. Applicants who defer their Exam Registration AFTER being awarded a scholarship forfeit the scholarship award. They will not be eligible for another scholarship. There will be no exceptions. A Scholarship recipient can defer their examination; however, they will forfeit their scholarship and be required to pay the Exam Registration Fee and the deferral fee in order for the deferral to be considered complete. You must register for the ERP or FRM Examination in order for your application to be considered. Qualified students and faculty members are entitled to one scholarship per lifetime. QUALIFICATIONS Students must demonstrate full-time enrollment* in a degree program at the time of the exam (May 22, 2010). Students enrolled in a certificate program do not qualify and will not be considered. Faculty members are deemed eligible if they can demonstrate full-time employment.**

*Full-time enrollment Defined as enrollment in a minimum of 12 credits per semester for undergraduate students and 9 credits per semester for graduate students. **Full-time employment Defined as tenured, tenured track, or the equivalent faculty member.

THE SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS 1. 2. 3. Register as an Affiliate member of GARP for the FRM or ERP Examination. Complete a 2010 Scholarship Application. Provide proof of full-time enrollment* or full-time employment.** Student Applicants Students must submit an official letter from the Registrar (on school letterhead) confirming their full-time enrollment through May 2010. This letter would reference a minimum of 12 credits currently taken per semester. Faculty Applicants Faculty members must submit a letter (on school letterhead) from a supervisor confirming full-time employment.** Both applicants will need to obtain a letter (on school letterhead) from a nominating university official that includes the following: Names and email address(s) of the nominee(s) confirming their full-time enrollment* and or their full-time employment.** A letter briefly describing the nominee(s) commitment to the field of risk management and specifically how they could benefit from the GARP Scholarship program for the FRM or ERP. Students must submit a copy of their most recent school transcript. Both types of applicants must include a copy of their most recent CV / Resume. Both types of applicants must include a brief, one page maximum, letter describing how the FRM / ERP designation will benefit your career / personal goals and objectives. 9. The Scholarship Administrator will confirm receipt of applications via email within 10 business days. 10. At the end of the review process, the applicant will be notified whether or not they received the scholarship award. Applicants who are awarded a scholarship will be notified (via email) by the Scholarship Administrator to proceed to the FRM / ERP Program Enrollment and Exam Registration. The pay by fax payment option must be chosen to register without paying. This will create an invoice that includes the registration fee, the enrollment fee and a USD $50.00 administrative fee that will be waived. The scholarship award will be applied to the Exam Registration fee only. Candidates must notify the Scholarship Administrator in order to remit payment for their enrollment fee. Candidates with unpaid enrollment fees are not eligible to utilize the scholarship award. Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship will be notified (via email) by the scholarship administrator. Candidates are encouraged to reapply for a GARP Scholarship in the next cycle.
