Innovative long term leadership assignment at an International Paper multi-union paper mill with over 800 employees. Developed systems and processes to resolve labor issues, including a significant safety issue. Provided Human Resource management at an International Paper union-free paper mill with over 1000 employees. Project manager of high efficiency team for 2006 summer student program, successfully recruiting and training 90 summer students resulting in cost savings of over $300K. Successfully managed talent acquisition teams for both multiple position production start up requirements and single position vacancies, consistent with enterprise EEO objectives, utilizing behavior based interviewing techniques. This included both hourly P&M and salary positions, ranging from non-exempt to top level managers. Developed strategic objectives/parameters as company spokesperson for several long-term collective bargaining agreements with the USWA and UAW in the USA and Canada, with win/win outcomes. Top leadership role on company grievance committee and labor-management teams, and successfully presented labor arbitration cases; issues included job jurisdiction, subcontracting and overtime distribution procedures. Lead role on various Safety Management teams, with success in reducing OSHA DART rates by over 20%. Promoted to highest Human Resource position soon after Niagara Falls Plant site acquisition by Globe Metallurgical Inc. Responsible for Human Resource Management, including Employment & Labor Law compliance; hands on responsibility at sited manufacturing plant and top HR role for other enterprise manufacturing plants. Lead team member at Globe Metallurgical for establishing ADP Total Pay Web Based Payroll Platform. Provided HR leadership to Verso Paper as it became a standalone company with over $1.5 Billion in Annual Sales & 3000 employees upon divestiture from International Paper. Prepared and presented a number of Training/OD programs including Code of Conduct, Policy and Procedures, Pay and Benefit Programs. Established and managed programs and vendor contracts and relations with Payroll, Retirement and H & W Plan benefit providers; this included ADP, Fidelity, Hewitt Relocation Services, BC/BS, United Healthcare, Sedgwick CMS, MetLife, and CIGNA. Responsible for all aspects of ERISA compliance for H&W plans with $30M in annual expenses.
