Apology and Retraction

The Citizen published the following in response to a mailer distributed by Chip Flanegan. The comment was erroneous, wrong and a cheap shot.

"I was told via email the front of the flyer has negative information about Kathy Gilbert, Shirley Dabney and Richard Steinberg. Funny that Gilbert is ok with negative campaigning pointed at Steinberg -- but not against herself. Tells a lot about her character." It is important to note that Kathy Gilbert, candidate for city council, has not ever condoned negative campaigning, nor the tactics and lack of character they represent. Flanegans mailer was pure negative campaigning against three candidates for Stockbridge City Council. It is a list of false accusations and paints a picture of tax-andspend liberalism that is not true. He is a candidate for US Congress who holds affiliation with a specific RINO organization in Henry County. A RINO by any other name is just a liberal Democrat in disguise. Flanegans mailer should have been denounced earlier. I want to express apologies to our readers for failing to report on it.

Broad experience counts

Visit www.hccitizen.org There are some who think that I am better qualified to serve on the County Commission than on the Stockbridge City Council because of my service on Henry County's Comprehensive Land Use Plan Steering Committee and the Hudson Bridge - Jonesborough Rd. LCI Committee. However it is precisely because of this experience that I am better prepared than most for service on the Council. Each of the 4 cities in Henry County is a participant in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Knowing what it contains as pertains to the City is crucial in making decisions on zoning requests that come before the Council. The Hudson Bridge- Jonesborough Rd. LCI includes portions of the City of Stockbridge and is contiguous to the City's high-rise overlay district along I75 in the Eagles Landing area. It is most definitely in the City's interest to be engaged in the decision making process for this area. The City is a part of Henry County, and decisions made by either or both can have significant consequences for the other. I will never promise more than I can deliver, but I will always strive to deliver more than I promise. It's really easy to make grandiose claims when running for office. I will never do that.

Early Voting Now Underway!

Early voting has begun for the November 8th election all across the state. Below is early voting information for Cobb, Fulton, and Cherokee Counties.

Citizens of Carroll County, As requested and as in the past, Carolyn Henderson (an active member and leader in the Carroll County Tea Party) has determined that the below candidates best reflect the core values and principles that embody the conservative movement. Although the Carroll County Tea Party does not endorse candidates, we wish to share these qualified candidates Carolyn is supporting for your benefit. We hope that this information will be of some help to you. CCTPA As in the past, people are asking who I am supporting in the Carrollton local election next Tuesday. Here they are: Carrollton Mayor............................. Walt Hollingsworth Carrollton City Council Ward 3......... Jim Watters Carrollton City Council Ward 4......... Charles Lane *State Senator 28th District (to fill the unexpired term of Mitch Seabaugh who took another position in the state) There are 10 running. I have narrowed it down to two of the candidates, of whom either would do a good job. Both are endorsed by Georgia Right to Life and several tea party groups. I have met with both of them and was equally impressed with both. Mike Crane or Matt Brass are the two candidates. Since there are so many in the race, there will be a run-off and I believe that one or both of these fine men will be in the run-off. I am not going to weigh in on the other races because I don't know the candidates well enough. Hopefully, you will do your homework so you'll make the best decision possible if you live in Bowdon, Mt. Zion, Temple or Villa Rica. Please share this information with your friends and be sure you vote next Tuesday! God Bless America! Carolyn Henderson Carrollton, GA

There seems to be some misunderstanding about an earlier post which was meant to address the expressed opinion of some that our current city hall was way overbuilt. While I don't disagree, we cannot tear it down and get our money back. It was planned, implemented and under construction before I took office 4 years ago. I had no part in the planning for the building. In fact I was very vocal my first 2 years about cost overruns and poor planning. The minutes from that time record my statements. There are some that are suggesting that my voting record reflects a lack of concern for our citizens young and old. Specifically my opposition to a request by the Mayor for $370,000 to be added to the 2011 budget AFTER it had been drawn and was ready to be adopted in December 2010. There is a process for adopting a budget that is prescribed by state law. There must be 2 public hearings before the budget is formally adopted. The budget was first presented for public comment at the October Council meeting. The November meeting was the second public hearing. Prior to those meetings the budget process began in July with requests to departments for funding needs for the coming year. The Mayor should have been aware of the time frame for budget requests. His list of projects was NEVER presented prior to the December 2010 meeting AFTER the budget was prepared and ready for final adoption. The Mayors Finance Committee Chair was not even aware of these projects before the Mayor presented them in December. Our youth are our future, and there is most certainly a need for programs to mentor and engage kids. However with no plan or budget or even outline for what sort of after school program was proposed, it was not a request that I could support. I dont believe it is sound fiscal policy to write blank checks. The record is clear in the Dec.13 2010 minutes that I stated that I personally, and the Council as a whole was not opposed to the projects in the Mayor's request, but that they needed to be done right, with a plan. It is bad policy to allocate public funds with no clear plan as to how they will be used.

Mr. Richard Steinberg Wants to Jump Start the Local Business Economy

Candidate for Stockbridge City Council What do you do to jump start a local economy? How do you find the ways to bring jobs into the local area? Where do you look for companies with good paying jobs to move here? Why would you want to do this? These questions are best answered by Mr. Richard Steinberg candidate for Stockbridge City Council. For instance: he has talked with a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta this week about Outreach Programs that are available through them to aid Stockbridge. 1. To jump start a local economy you give the established businesses a boost by giving them a tax break. Also, the citizens must shop at their local stores. 2. To bring in jobs to the area you must work with the established businesses so they can hire people. For instance: if a business is given an incentive of a lower tax they can hire at least one person more to their work force. 3. To bring in companies with good paying jobs you must first seek them out. Then show them what your area has to offer. Our city has plenty of empty space right now to bring in companies with higher paying jobs. 4. And why would I want to do this because I care about the city and the people where I live. I want to see Stockbridge succeed as a Southern Crescent City. Mr. Steinberg is working to try and help the people of this city and looks at feeble attacks upon his character as attempts by desperate people who do not have the best interest of the people at heart. Mr. Steinberg wants to help make Stockbridge all it can be and more. The citizens have a chance to change from the same problems that have mired this citys growth. Early voting begins Monday October 31st thru November 4th at the Ted Strickland Center on Berry Street in Stockbridge. Then Election Day will be November 8th at the Ted Strickland Center on Berry Street in Stockbridge. This will be the day that you can only vote for the council members at this location. Remember also, that the three top vote getters will be the ones who will get a seat on the council. So don't forget to vote for Richard Steinberg for Stockbridge City Council. Thank you and May God Bless.

Elect Swaine Thompson for

McDonough City Council - District III
October 7, 2011 Dear Henry Citizen, It is with pleasure that I announce to you my intention to run for the office of City Council for the City of McDonough in the upcoming Nov 8, 2011 election. I further ask for your support during my campaign, I believe in supporting the small business lower taxes - a smaller government - more city fiscal responsibility and a strong public safety program. These ideologies are the foundation of American values and I wish to protect those. The time is now for change of leadership for our district. McDonough is growing and we need someone who presents a more active role within the entire District. Under this city administration, our millage rate has practically doubled during tough economic times. This is bad business and I want it stopped now. I will work for you. If you elect me into office, we will stay in constant communication using social media and other means. I believe that elected officials sometimes forget that they work for the community or maybe parts of it. I will never take your vote for granted. City Council service is a privilege! I plan to put in place and maintain programs that support the health, safety and welfare of our growing community by ensuring McDonough continues to be the Choice community for the future. Again, I ask for your support on November 8, 2011. I would like the opportunity to speak with you individually to hear what you think can be improved to make our community safer, stronger and more prosperous. Also, this year there is a referendum on the ballot where McDonough citizens will decide if they want Beer and Wine sold on Sundays so it is crucial for you to go to the polls to cast your vote. Please feel free to contact me at swaine@swaineforcitycouncil.org or (678) 876-0244. If anything reach out to me and say Hello and let me know you will support me! If you request a ride to the polls on Nov 8, 2011, please contact my office. We will provide a ride for you.

LANCE LAMBERTON

Candidate for Austell City Council As you may be aware, I am now a declared candidate and will be on the ballot for Austell City Council, Ward 4, with the election to be held on November 8th. Under the circumstances, to avoid any perceived conflict of interest, such as using my position as president of the Cobb Taxpayers Association (CTA) to advance my candidacy, I have asked Mr. Brett Bittner, who is CTA's Vice President, to take over the operations of CTA until the election, and to serve as our spokesman; a request to which he has graciously agreed. The good news is that as a candidate, there is no restriction on me speaking out against the T-SPLOST, which is CTA's primary concern. The difference is that I will speak out as "candidate" Lance Lamberton, and not "president" of the CTA. In fact, in a few days, both the MDJ and the League of Women Voters will be publishing information where I take a forthright anti T-SPLOST stand. Quite frankly, "forthright" is the only way I know how to be, and I hope that will bode well for when I win my election to the Austell City Council. If you'd like to learn about my campaign for City Council, please log onto www.lambertonforcouncil.com In the meantime, thank you for your past and current support of CTA. In liberty, Lance Lamberton 404-925-8960
