Review regulatory documents and prepare study protocols. Participate in the study development and start-up process, and in Physiology Department's training programs. Oversee proper handling of laboratory specimens including processes, shipping/ storage, and documentation. Dissect adrenal glands and spinal cords from mice under microscope and save under assigned conditions for use in further projects. Work with fluorescent microscope to study properties of mice adrenal glands' chromaffin cells and animals coronary arteries' cells. Accomplishments: Gained Immunofluorescence experience working on experimental slides to determine amount of Acrolein in mechanically injured spinal cord versus control samples, and to also determine Myelin in axonal area. Member of a 10-person team conducting research on how hydralazine affects multiple sclerosis symptoms. While results have been promising in animal testing, hydralazine therapy for MS is not yet ready for clinical usage.
