Organic Farming Proposal by Muhammad Babar Khan Samood Rehan Aska Farooqi Isbah Khan

Organic farming can be a business venture of great potential. Given the vibrant media which is pumping all sorts of information into masses, there is a high likeliness that health conscientiousness is growing and public preferences are towards safe and nutritious food intake. This phenomenon has been the prime target of Multinational Food processing companies who have through their various marketing techniques instilled in the minds of their target customers that their product is safe, natural and highly nutritious. Tetra pack milk is one such example, where the packaged milk producing companies boasts that their product is bacteria free and nutritious with the wholesomeness of milk. However its no open secret that the U.H.T (Ultra Heat Treatment) in which milk is heated to extreme temperatures touching 200 to 300 C burns all the natural nutritious components of the milk. Whereas the skimming process removes all the natural diary fats, which have higher commercial value in making milk cream and cheese than non-diary fat which are then put in in order to satisfy international requirements 2.5% fat in the milk. Doing so makes milk more of a diary liquid rather than something which is consumed to provide complete set of dietary requirements. Loose milk is also no safe alternative for those who become aware of such procedures by packaged milk producing companies. Use of caustic to prolong the period of milk getting sour and high level of bacteria infestation and adultery in the milk is all well known to highly aware consumers. As the truth about packaged milk becomes more open to the masses, a new type of market will be created consisting of consumers who will desire natural milk without preservatives cleaned through a natural process. Thus organic milk will become the most desired milk product which is extracted from cattle which eats grass grown without fertilizer and the milk is kept natural and preserved through pasteurization and refrigeration at less than 2 C. To produce such milk an organic farm is required on which food for cattle can be grown so that the cost can be curtailed and organic nature of cattle food can be ensured. As per reasonable estimates enough food for 5 animals can be grown on 1 Acre of land and taking feedback from people who have initiated similar business ventures we have found out that inorder for business to become sustainable 500 litres of daily production which van be given by 80 to 90 animals is required so that losses due production fluctuations can be taken care of from profits from the business it self. Farm land at malir costs Rs 2.5 Million per acre and one diary animal costs around Rupees 0.1 Million
