 Geological mapping, covering an area of approximately 3.146
million sq. km, or 94 percent of the area of India.
 Research and development of mapping and exploration
techniques.
 Scientific surveys and research, for locating mineral resources.
 Geological maps and data are available with GSI on a commercial
basis.
