BREAKFAST FOODS

Morning, Ior me, is the gloomiest part oI the day. I always Ieel that I am missing about
three hours oI sleep. Still, somewhere in my subconsciousness, I realize that iI I don't wake
up and get to where I don't want to be, usually my oIIice, my livelihood as I know it would
cease to exist! The car would be repossessed, and Fido might have to go back to the pound!
What a prospect! Yet, as a cruel joke, I have to Iace the dilemma oI what to make Ior
breakIast as well. Being at the transitional state between dream and reality, it would help me
to be more creative iI the selection oI breakIast Ioods is less limited and more enticing, but
more oIten than not, the options include cold cereals, hot cereals, and the artery-clotting
Iorms oI Iood.
One oI the quickest and most popular breakIast Ioods is cold cereal. There's a wide
selection and various name brands to choose Irom. For people with a sweet tooth, the choice
is plentiIul. For instance, Frosted Corn Flakes, made by Kellogg's, is a grain cereal that
consists oI Iine corn Ilour, sugar, sugar, and sugar, plus corn syrup, calcium carbonate,
trisodiumphosphate, and topopherol to preserve Ireshness. For the health conscious, Honey
Bunches oI Oats is one oI many alternatives. Made by Post, it is also a grain cereal which
comes with a list oI ingredients that doesn't sound like Chemistry 101! It contains corn,
whole wheat, rolled oats, and brown sugar instead oI processed sugar, almond, rice, and oI
course, honey. Sure, one can disguise a bowl oI cereal with slices oI banana or juicy
strawberries, but that's where the excitement ends! No matter the camouIlage, a bowl oI
cereal has the potential to become redundant quickly.
Another option that might satisIy one's palate in the morning is hot cereal. Perhaps not as
popular as cold cereal but just as quick to get to the table, this breakIast Iood does not Iall in
the "exciting" category. It does, however, command the respect oI other health Ioods; it is
wholesome and known to lower cholesterol levels. The only disadvantage is its extremely
Iixed quantity oI assortment. One can only Iind three or Iour selections in any given
supermarket. One oI the most sold is Quaker Oats. Its ingredient is quite simple: one hundred
percent rolled oats! Oats can be prepared eIIortlessly. With just two parts boiling water and
one part oats, breakIast is served. Another variety oI hot cereal, grits, is equal in taste but
very diIIerent in texture. It is made oI Iinely ground wheat and salt. It comes in twelve
individual packets to a box which makes it convenient. Grits is prepared in the same manner
as oats and just as quickly, so quickly that there would still be time to prepare a bowl oI corn
Ilakes instead!
The last category oI the breakIast dilemma is the greasy Iood group which includes the
likes oI bacon, eggs, and their associates. This type oI meal is not the quickest to make, but
Ior certain, is the most desirable. AIter days oI corn Ilakes and grits, this is a criminal's last
meal beIore the execution! The list oI choices is endless. Topping it, oI course, is bacon and
eggs. Bacon comes not only in diIIerent brands but also in diIIerent thicknesses, smoked and
regular. Some bacon comes with less Iat than others, but all comes with much more Iat than it
should. Eggs come in various sizes and colors: small, medium, large, and extra large. They're
packed in halI dozen, one dozen, or a baker's dozen oI eighteen to a carton. Their shell's
colors range Irom white, brown to pastel blue and pale yellow. Though there's only one way
to prepare bacon, eggs can be cooked in numerous ways. They can be scrambled, hard-boiled,
poached, pan Iried, or made into omelettes. For those who preIer a "hardier" breakIast, a
variety oI sausage can be added to the menu. Pork sausage and Kielbasa sausage are the most
popular. They can be baked and served sliced with warm bread. Although they're delicious,
most sausage contains nitrite, a quantity. However, preIerable this group oI breakIast Iood is,
it contains too much Iat and cholesterol and should be consumed with moderation.
As the most important meal oI the day, I wish breakIast would have more alluring choices.
While cold cereal has a reasonably good taste, it incorporates too much sugar which has the
power to transIorm a sleepy person into a zombie! Also its redundancy makes the draw oI
sugar less attractive. Hot cereal, though healthy, does not hold its charm Ior very long due to
the bland taste and curdling texture once it becomes cold. The cholesterol-loaded Ioods,
however, prevail over the rest, but because oI the excessive amount oI Iat in these Ioods,
they're not Irequently prepared in most households. Moreover, due to the lack oI time in the
morning, these laborious meals cannot always be prepared. I now make larger portions Ior
dinner and save the leIt-overs Ior breakIast the next morning. This is a healthier alternative,
and it also gives me more time to sleep!

CLASSIFICATION ESSAY

Having a roommate can be an unpleasant experience. Everybody is conditioned
diIIerently and has their own way oI running a household. Having to learn everyone's
disposition can be a challenge within itselI because one can be diIIerent than one is used to.
For me I have Iound it quite diIIicult to live with other people because they tend to not want
to pick up aIter themselves, they have no regard Ior your Ieelings, and they could care less
about your personal belongings. I have categorized the roommates that I have lived with into
three categories: the dirty, the disrespectIul, and the hazardous.
The Iirst type oI person I encountered was by Iar the dirtiest I had ever lived with.
Shell would not take out any trash; iI it were not Ior me it would have been piled up all over
the Iloor. Because she would never do the dishes, I had to do them. One day I had came home
Irom work and noticed this awIul, Ioul smell. To my surprise, I Iound out that it was her dog.
He had been playing around a dead cow Ior quite some time. I thought she would have given
him a bath, but to my consternation she let him sleep with her that night. I could not handle
that, so the next morning I got up and scrubbed him really good.
The second type oI person I have lived with was very disrespectIul. Kay would come
in around 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. This would have been Iine iI it wasn't Ior the Iact that
I had to get up early to go to work. Also, she had given her boyIriend a key to the house, so
he and his Iriends would come over regardless iI anyone was home or not. One day I was
looking Ior something oI mine, so I asked Kay where it was at. She told me that someone was
over and walked out with it. Not only did they leave with my item they had ate some oI my
Iood.
The third type oI roommate I had was very hazardous. This certain person smoked
like a Ireight train. The only problem with him smoking was he Iell asleep while doing it.
There were countless times I woke him up with a cigarette hanging out oI his mouth. When I
went to the room to inspect things out I Iound nine burn holes in my Ilooring. As a result oI
him smoking, I also have several burn holes in my mattress. He is deIinitely the worst
roommate I have ever had. I am glad that he does not live with me anymore.
Having a roommate can be very challenging because some people are inconsiderate oI
other people's Ieelings and property. It is very important to Iind someone who has the same
type oI personality you do, so one can get along a lot better. I must say I have learned a lot
living with these people. I am tying to more benevolent towards others. Through my
experiences I have Iound that I am better oII living by myselI, at least Ior now.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST ESSAY
For women shopping can be a pleasant and Iun experience, especially when we see a
sale on an item that we have wanted to buy. I think it is a little diIIerent Ior men because
some men Iind it boring and they hate to walk through a crowed mall. Females are very
indecisive when it comes to shopping because we can't make up our minds about what we
want to get. Males know what they want and pick only that item up. Ladies can take hours
getting one item, while men can get Iive items in 20 minutes or less. Women spend a lot more
money than men shopping because we want everything we see. Men and women are so
diIIerent when shopping is concerned.
First oI all, women are indecisive while shopping and men aren't. A women can go
into a store with every intention on getting one item. But she sees all the cute things lying
around the store saying "buy me." For that reason, she Ieels compelled to buy other items
within the store. That is why a woman can be very indecisive. When a man says that he is
going to get one thing Irom the store it's a guarantee that he will come home with that one
item because things don't scream out at him, "buy me".
Secondly, a Iemale can take a lot longer time to shop than a male does. For some
reason a lady has to look at everything she Iinds appealing to the eye. I know when I go
shopping Ior a pair oI jeans I end up with a shirt and a cute pair oI shoes to match. What
should have only taken 20 minutes to begin with became 2 hours. A man just doesn't seem to
notice things as a woman does. Or maybe it is because a man just doesn't care. In any case,
when a male says he will be back in 20 minutes Irom shopping, he will be back in 20 minutes
or less.
Thirdly, a Iemale normally spends more money than a male does. Most Iemales want
everything to be name brand regardless oI the cost oI the item. A male doesn't care too much
iI it has Dollar General Logo on it or not. All he cares about is whether or not it does the job.
On the other hand, one thing I have noticed about a man is his tools. He will spend a lot oI
money on name brand tools.
In essence, women and men are diIIerent in a lot oI ways. One diIIerence is Ior sure
and that is shopping. Most women like to take their time and look Ior great buys and cute
things. But most men could care less about that stuII. They just get what they want and the
heck with everything else. They do not Ieel the need to try on their clothes as women do.
Most men also seem to be a little thriItier with their money than women.
