Lesson Objectives:

Students will understand what open ended questions and closed questions are, type of responses from students and teachers, and types of comments returned by the teacher. Students will also understand how to conduct a student-teacher interaction data collection. The students will also understand how, when, and why to use this type of data collection. Introduce the Learning Activity: Will discuss how this specific data collection of teacher-student response evaluations can help teachers keep track of a students understanding of a subject. From this data collection you can understand type of questions a student responds to, if they respond correctly, and the type of comment returned by the teacher. This can help you assess yourself as well as students. Provide Information Most of the information will be presented verbally. Definitions will be presented through a Prezi Presentation. Data sheets and information will be provided as handouts. Also students will be asked to research some information on their own as well and provide the class with a response. Provide Practice: After discussing the terminology, the class will be shown a video created for this lesson plan. The class will then be asked to identify the type of question, types of response from the student, type of response from the teacher, and the consequence or comment returned by the teacher. Provide Knowledge of Results: Since all activities will be gone over together feedback will be given verbally. The correct answer will always be provided verbally. Correct answers will also be on the board in the Prezi presentation. Review the Activity:

After opportunities to practice identifying the type of question, the type of response, and the consequence and type of comment by the teacher; as a class they will watch a short video. The class will record the data on their own using a sheet I will be providing. We will go over the answers as a class. Method of Assessment: To test the students understanding of the data collection they will record data from a video on a data sheet. They will have a choice to make the data sheet themselves using Excel or Word or the will have the option of finding one online. After the video we will go over the sheet as a class to discuss the answers.
