Overview of roles / responsibilities a. Included a discussion about conflict of interest for SGC members and opting out of those votes 2. Election of Officers & DAC representative a. There was not a quorum, so an official vote was not held, but interest in positions was as follows: i. Co-Chair August & Jocelyn ii. P&O Chris Martin iii. Secretary Minerva iv. Budget Kevin v. Survey Teri; Minerva can help vi. Kindergarten tours Jocelyn vii. Guidebook Sally viii. Family Advisory Council Penny Peak ix. PBS Support Sally x. PTA Liaison - Denise 3. Other a. Americorps part-time tutor are we using that person in that capacity yet? Farmer Ben was made aware of it last year. b. Any vaccination requirements for LeConte? No. c. Support for new teachers there is a buddy/mentor teacher assigned to each d. Professional development on differentiated instruction Susan Katz will renew her national board certification e. SGC Training session scheduled for 10/27/11 at Longfellow, including District SGC orientation. New Director: Debbie DAngelo Test Data presentation planned for our next SGC meeting. f. Spelling Bee, Math Olympiad, Gifted/Talented events and activities are in early planning stages g. Tutors (including advanced & reinforcement): i. Danielle (Math 1-3) ii. Gazel (which grade?) iii. Reina (1st grade TWI) iv. One more h. Berkeley Mental Health - $5,000 being paid through the District i. Community reading needed? 1st grade eating breakfast in cafeteria can it change? Could that time be used for instruction? j. Tardiness to help reduce it, lock Oregon gate at 8:15am

k. 70 students designated as English learners to be tested (not sure what this was about) l. RTI BSEP community; one assigned to LeConte. Julie is the RTI for special ed m. For the future, remember to have parents at our Kinder info night in January to solicit families n. TWI meeting 16 voters (including Principal Wilson), but all welcome. For the next meeting there will be transportation and data o. National Equity Project focus on a few students focus and measure (e.g. 4 students) instead of groups. We will have focal students again; teachers are giving each other feedback 4. Next Meeting: Future meetings to be held on the first Wednesday of the month. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2nd, 6:30 pm, in the LeConte Library.
