y: inflammator

Keratoectasia
Keratoconus
Ant.staphyloma
Keratoglobus

Pellucid marginal deg.

 Keratoectasia: protrusion of corneal scar without iris incarceration.

 Ant.staphyloma(pseudo cornea): protrusion of corneal scar with

iris incarceration.

 Keratoconus: if protrusion in the centre of cornea(+ve Munson's

sign).

 Keratoglobus: : if protrusion in corneal curvature all around.

 Pellucid marginal degeneration: protrusion in lower third of

cornea( from 4-8 o'clock) ,treated by: hard cl & pkp

N.B.
-rupture of descment's membrane corneal edema.
-Rupture of bowman's membrane corneal opacity.
-Acute hydrops: corneal edema due to descment's membrane
destructionand enterance of aqueous humor inside cornea.

keratoglobus
-Bilateral corneal ectasia and thinning

-Large corneal curvature

-Normal diameter

-Deep A.C & normal angle

Effect of Trauma on Cornea
 Types of trauma 1. Blunt trauma
2.Foreign Body • Abrasion
3.Physical Trauma • Recurrent Corneal Erosion
4.Chemical Trauma • Laceration
5.Penetrating Trauma • Intracorneal Hematoma
6.Iatrogenic • Blood Staining, Rupture,
Edema

 Corneal
abrasion  treatment:
o Antibiotic
 Common with: o Cycloplegic Mydriatic
-Finger nails o Cover For 24hoursby
-Paper cuts Patch Or Cl
-Mascara brush
Hair brush
 Intracorneal hematoma
Occur in previously vascularised (injured) cornea following blunt trauma

 Corneal Foreign Body

You shoud remove f.b with its rust

 Laceration

Dr_amr_tiger@yahoo.com A.M.E.G
 Physical Corneal
Injury  treatment:
o analgesic
u.v keratopathy is common o cycloplegic mydriatic with
o cover for 24hoursby
• welding
patch or cl
• exposure to sun lamps

• snow or water skiing

 Thermal Corneal Trauma
 trauma with:

-cigarettes -loss of epithelium and stroma

-hot metals -edema

-hot oils
-conj hyperemia &chemosis
 treatment:
i. removal of any debris
ii. debridment of necrotic
epithelium
iii. cycloplegic mydriatic
iv. antibiotic + cortisone

 Chemical trauma
Chemical injuries:
• Caustics as fresh lime
• Acids as conc HCl & H2SO4 .

Dr_amr_tiger@yahoo.com A.M.E.G
• Alkalis as NaoH
• Iodine
• Aniline
N.B. alkalis is more dangerous than
 treatment: acids, as acids cause coagulation of
o Continous Wash With Saline Or proteins making a barrier preventing
further penetration
Even Tap Water Till Ph Become
Neutral
o Alteration Of PH (If Acidic Give
Alkaline And Vice Versa
o Cortisone to inhibit fibrosis
o Cover
o Cycloplegic Mydriatic
o Antibiotic

& stop any decongestant
