the congregation. This selection process begins with nominations from the congregation, review of those nominated by a Deacon Selection Committee, Deacon Presbytery, and finally the vote of the congregation. This Sunday, members of the church will be asked to vote on the following ten men to serve on the Deacon Body of the Church: Winston Brock, Dwayne Kelly, Stan Killough, Brian OMara, Jerry Pollock, Josh Williamson, and Russell Willis to serve for three years. Marvin Hall, Lewis Jones, and John Rogers for one year. All have agreed to serve as a Deacon if the church so elects. At the close of the morning services, you will be given opportunity to vote. Responsibility often breeds privilege. It is a privilege we should not take lightly, this thing called church membership. Unlike the membership in a civic group or fraternal organization, church membership is a commitment to God, not to man. It is a commitment to be the steward of His work in this place where He has us. It is a commitment to one another to be the visible body of Christ in this community. You have not joined a group, you have made a commitment to God. Lets honor that commitment in worship this Sunday. Paul Memory verse August 7Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

A Parents' Prayer for Students Dear Lord, As my children leave for school, I pray that you will keep them in your care. Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true and beautiful and good. Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well. Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom. Help them to be kind to others and lead others be kind to them. Give their teachers patience and understanding and help them teach what is just and true. Send your angels to guide and guard my children and to keep them from all harm. Open their young hearts to your presence and enfold them in your peace and protection. Hold them in the palm of your hand and bring them home safely at day's end. Amen.
