PNU @ 18

Philippine Normal University Quezon-Campus celebrated the 18th Foundation Day Anniversary with the theme PNU Quezon: Eighteen Years of Progressive and Innovative leadership in Teacher Education held on June 30-July 2. PNU provided several activities for the three-day celebration which started with a thanksgiving mass with Rev. Father Sio followed by the program wherein Dra. Angelina De luna Tan and Councilor Sylvia Mascardo served as the guest speakers. In the afternoon, the opening of different booths were began to open they were the Souvenir booth of freshmen, Jail booth of sophomores, Refreshment booth of juniors and Horror booth of Seniors. BEED IV-A ramped away as the winner group in Academic Olympiad Competition. It was followed by the PNU Got Talent, wherein Lyn Carandang from freshmen for female category and Kieth Honey Baesa from junior for male category got the first place in singing competition while in dancing competition the sophomores hit the floor as first place. PNUans are not only fits in academic but also in sports, for volleyball (G) the seniors invade the whole gymnasium as they won the first place while in basketball(B) and Volleyball(B) juniors landed as the cream of the top. Cooking contest wherein chef of different sections participated. It was followed by Campus Picnic and Ola Pabola. The night came in for the highlight of the celebration the Search for Mr. and Ms. PNU 2011. Jan Custer Logan and Mary Zenas Baylon ramped away with their crowns as Mr. and Ms. PNU for their stunning beauty during the search while Edmond Malihan as Mr. Foundation and Shermaine Aurin as Ms. Foundation, as well First Prince Jeffrey De la Cruz and his First Princess Claudette Ann Santos showcased the beauty they have. PNU community meander the whole street with the accompaniment of Maharlika Band. Street Dancers were also present as they performed their prepared presentations. The Acquaintance Party for freshmen ended the three-day celebration of Foundation Day.

Freshmen held G-ENG 01 Culminating Activity. Freshmen students conducted their Culminating Activity as part of the course requirements in G-ENG 01: Public Listening and speaking under the supervision of Prof. Hermes Argante, at PNU- Gymnasium, Oct. 8. Current issues concerning the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill), Euthanasia, Divorce Law, Charter Change, Climate Change, Claim over Spratly Island, Death Penalty and AntiHazing Law were discussed in a form of round table discussion, panel discussion, debate and symposium. Student from Aceba System Technology Institute (ASTI) were also present to witness the said activity.

As part of the course requirements, freshmen taking up PEd 01; Physical Education and Health held their culminating activity at PNU- Gymnasium, Oct. 19. Different stunts in gymnastics were showcased in a form of Pep Squad. The four sections were divided into five groups namely group A, B, C, D and E. They were all eager to catch the high score. In the end, group C and D hit the floor as they got the highest scores from the judges. Selected sophomores students served as the Board of Judges. The successful activity was under the supervision of Prof. Joseph E. Alano.
