“How Great is Your God?

Joshua 10:1-15
How great is the God you serve?
1. Is He big enough to perform miracles in your behalf?
2. Does your faith limit what God is able and willing to do for you?

These questions are really self-check questions which leads to how big is your conception
of the God you serve.

Joshua 10:1-5
Tells us that the king of Jerusalem was anger with the Gibeonites for making peace with
the Israelites.

He was so anger he call together four other kings to attack the Gibeonites.
1. Reveals Gibeonites strength and size.
2. And a heart of submit to God.

Joshua 10:6
We need help
1. Not to proud to ask for help.
2. We are your servant remember.

Joshua 10:7

Joshua honors their vows

1. Could have let them be killed which would free Israel of the pack they made with
the Gibeonites.

Joshua 10:8
God’s command and promise
1. Don’t be afraid of them.
2. I will give you complete victory.

How many of you are going through a battle today and today you need to hear God’s
encouragement.

In 2 Kings tells us of the king of Aram who sent his army to arrest Elisha because he kept
telling the plans of attack to the Israelites.

Early one morning Elisha’s servant wakes up to find that they are surrounded by this
army and cries out to Elisha look.
Elisha’s response was “don’t be afraid” there are more on our side than there is on their
side. And he prayed that the eye of his servant would be open. Suddenly his servant saw
that hillside filled with horses and chariots of fire.

1 John 4:4

Gang you need to know it here and believe it here. Amen

Joshua 10:9

Joshua takes action

1. Joshua didn’t just sit there and say o.k. Lord.
2. Marched all night, some twenty miles, about 8 hours.

God wants us to be his partners in reaching the world revealing that Jesus Christ is the
Messiah and through Christ Jesus they can be saved.

He wants to see what kind of initiative we have a we crazy for God business. Does that
drive us into action it should.

Joshua 10:10-11
Team work
1. The Lord causes confusion and the Israelites attacks.
2. The Israelites chases the Amorite and kills them along the way. Notice how they
didn’t just wait for God.
3. As they retreat the Lord caused hail to fall on the Amorites.
4. The hailstorm kills more of the Amorites.

When God steps in he does what only He can do, we need to do what we can do. Amen

Joshua 10:12-15

Joshua’s prayer
1. Probably saw that they were not going to destroy all of them. Remember God’s
words in verse 8 not a single one of them will stand up to you.
2. This part of the story causes many to stumble. Why?
3. The sun stood still and well as the moon?
4. If this is too hard for you to believe than your concept of God is too small.

We have read of the Red Sea splitting open then closing, water come out of a rock, mana
appear in the mornings, the Jordan river divided, the walls of Jericho come down causing
a ramp. Why is it that this is hard? Unbelief!!!

Here’s something that is crazy Ancient history supports this claim. The Chinese,
Babylonians, Incas, Aztecs, nearly every other ancient culture records a day or night that
was longer than any other all occurring at the same time.
Well that is just not natural. I have learned that God is the Creator and is able to do what
ever it is He wants.

Jeremiah 32:27

Joshua’s prayer heard by God!

1. God hears your prayer too.
2. Joshua was not perfect nevertheless he LOVED the LORD.

James 5:16 tells us that the prayers of a righteous man prevail much.

When the believer has the right mind set of God and of them selves in God they ask for
the things that will bring Glory to the name of God.

Mark 11:23

Gang there is no circumstance, problem, trouble, nothing that God can not give you
victory over.

Remember the power of God is available to the one who is fully convinced in the
Almighty God.
