COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Audi showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different seating positions. In the side barrier test, the Q3 scored maximum points, all body areas being well protected. In the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other body areas was good. The front seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. Child occupant In the frontal impact, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side barrier test, both dummies were properly contained within the shells of their restraints, minimising the likelihood of dangerous head contacts. The dangers of using a rearward facing restraint without disabling the passenger airbag in that position are clearly explained in a permanently attached label. A switch is available as an option, and can be retro-fitted by an Audi dealer, which allows the passenger airbag to be disabled so that a rearward -facing child restraint can be used in that seating position. However, as the switch is not standard equipment on any model, it did not qualify for assessment by Euro NCAP. Pedestrian The bumper scored maximum points for the protection offered to pedestrians' legs. The front edge of the bonnet was poor in all areas tested and scored no points. In those areas likely to be struck by a child's head, protection was predominantly good but was poor in most areas likely to be struck by the head of an adult. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard equipment and met Euro NCAP's test requirements. A seatbelt reminder is standard for the driver, passenger and rear seats. A speed limitation device is not available for the Q3.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings showed good protection of the knees and femurs of driver and passenger. BMW showed that a similar level of protection would be provided for occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different seating positions. In the side barrier test, the car provided adequate protection for the chest and good protection for other body areas. In the more severe side pole test, dummy readings of rib compression indicated weak protection for the chest area. The front seats and head restraints provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. Child occupant Based on dummy readings in the frontal and side impacts, the 1 Series scored maximum points for protection of the 3 year infant. Forward movement of that dummy in the frontal impact was not excessive and, in the side impact, both dummies were properly contained within the shells of their restraints, minimising the likelihood of dangerous head contacts. A switch is available as an option which allows the passenger airbag to be disabled, allowing a rearward facing restraint to be used in that seating position. Information provided to the driver about the status of the airbag does not meet Euro NCAP's requirements. The dangers of using a rearward facing seat in that position without disabling the airbag are clearly explained in a permanently-attached label. Pedestrian In all areas likely to be struck by a child's head, the bonnet offered good protection and the car scored maximum points for this part of the assessment. For an adult's head, protection was predominantly poor, although some areas tested were good. The bumper offered good protection to pedestrians' legs in all areas, and scored maximum points. However, the front edge of the bonnet was poor and scored no points. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard equipment on the 1 series and met Euro NCAP's test requirements. A seatbelt reminder is provided for the driver, passenger and rear positions. A speed limitation device is available as an option but did not meet Euro NCAP's fitment requirements, so was not assessed.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger cell of the Freemont remained stable in the frontal impact. Although dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger, the steering column presented a hazard for occupants of different sizes and those sat in different positions, and protection for this body area was rated as marginal. Maximum points were scored for protection of the front passenger, with good protection of all body areas. In Freemont scored maximum points in the side barrier test. In the more severe side pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated weak protection of the chest. The Freemont has an 'active' head restraint, which moves forward in the event of a rear-end collision to provide greater support for the neck. In Euro NCAP's tests, the system worked well and protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision was rated as good. Child occupant Based on dummy readings from the impact tests, the Freemont scored maximum points for protection of both the 18 month and 3 year old. In the frontal test, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side barrier test, both child dummies were properly contained within the shells of their restraints, minimising the likelihood of dangerous head contacts. The front passenger airbag cannot be disabled, so a rearward facing child restraint cannot be used in that seating position. The dangers of using a rearward facing seat in that position are not labelled in all the required languages. Pedestrian The Freemont has an 'active' bonnet. Sensors detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet to provide greater clearance to hard structures underneath. FIAT showed that the system detected pedestrians of different statures and operated over a range speeds, so the Freemont was tested with the system deployed. In those areas likely to be struck by the head of a child, the car provided protection which was predominantly poor or marginal. For the head of an adult, protection was good in some areas but poor in others. The bumper scored maximum points for the protection it offered pedestrians' legs. However, the front edge of the bonnet gave poor protection and scored no points. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard and met Euro NCAP's test requirements. A seatbelt reminder is standard for the driver and front passenger seats. A speed limitation device is not available on the Freemont.

Adult occupant The passenger compartment of the Ranger remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings in the tests indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and front passenger. The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. Pedestrian The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs. The front edge of the bonnet was more mixed, with good areas and some areas which gave poor protection to struck pedestrians. However, in the areas likely to be struck by a child's head, the bonnet provided almost entirely good protection and was predominantly good in the areas likely to be struck by an adult's head. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard equipment on all variants of the Ranger and met Euro NCAP's test requirements. COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. For both front seat occupants, protection of all body areas was good apart from the lower legs, protection of which was adequate. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Hyundai showed that a similar level of protection would be provided for occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different seating positions. In the side barrier test, all body areas were well protected and the car scored maximum points. Even in the more severe side pole test, protection was good and the Veloster scored maximum points. Similarly, the seat and head restraint provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. Child occupant The Veloster lost only a fraction of a point in the dynamic tests for its protection of the 3 year dummy. Forward movement of that dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive and, in the side impact, both dummies were properly contained by their restraints, minimising the likelihood of dangerous head contacts. The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. Clear information is provided regarding the dangers of using a rearward facing child restraint in that seat without first disabling the airbag. Pedestrian Protection provided by the bumper and front edge of the bonnet to the legs and pelvis of a struck pedestrian was good or marginal. In the area likely to be struck by the head of a child, the bonnet offered some good protection but also some areas of marginal and poor protection. Protection for the head of a struck adult was predominantly poor. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard on the Veloster, as is a seat belt reminder for the driver and front pasenger seats. A speed limitation device is not offered for this car.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment of the Thema remained stable in the frontal impact. Although dummy readings were good, analysis of the data showed that the head of the driver dummy had 'bottomed out' the airbag i.e. the airbag was not sufficiently inflated to prevent a contact, through the flattened airbag, with the steering wheel rim. The car was penalised and head protection was rated as adequate. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both front seat occupants. Lancia were able to show that a similar level of protection would be provided for occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. In the side barrier impact, the Thema scored maximum points. In the more severed side pole test, dummy readings indicated marginal levels of protection for the chest and abdomen. The protection provided by the seat and head restraint against whiplash injuries was also rated as marginal. Child occupant Forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side barrier test, both dummies were properly contained within the shells of their restraints, mimimising the risk of dangerous head contacts. The passenger airbag cannot be disabled so a rearward facing restraint cannot be used in that seating position. The dangers of doing so are clearly explained in a permanently attached label. Pedestrian The Thema is equipped with an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper determine when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet to provide greater clearance to hard structures underneath. Lancia showed that the system worked for a wide range of pedestrian statures and over a range of speeds, so the car was tested with the system deployed. In those areas likely to be struck by the head of a child or an adult, the bonnet provided good protection. The bumper also provided good protection to pedestrians's legs, and scored maximum points. However, the front edge of the bonnet scored nothing, providing poor protection in all areas tested. Safety assist The Thema has electronic stability control as standard equipment, and the system met Euro NCAP's test requirements. A seatbelt reminder is standard for the driver and front passenger seats. There is no speed limitation device for the Thema.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated poor protection for the knees and femurs of the passenger occupant. The steering column and facia also provided hazards to the driver occupant. The Voyager scored maximum points for the protection it provided in the side barrier test. In the more severe side pole impact, protection was good in most body areas and adequate for the chest. The front seat and active head restraints provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision. Child occupant Based on dummy readings in the frontal and side impact tests, the Voyager scored full points for protection of the 3 year old child. Forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive and both the 3 year and 18 month dummies were properly contained by their restraints in the side impact, minimising the risk of dangerous head contact. However, the ISOFIX child restraints are mounted on support stands, the legs of which rest on storage compartments in the floor of the rear seating positions. For the 18 month dummy, the cover of this storage compartment partially collapsed during the frontal impact and Euro NCAP awarded no points for compatibility of the restraints with the vehicle. Lancia has stated that they will implement improvements to eliminate this concern. The passenger airbag cannot be disabled, preventing the fitment of a rearward-facing child restraint in that seating position. The sun-visor label warning of the dangers of using a rearward facing child seat in that position were presented in the relevant EU languages and did not meet the Euro NCAP requirements. Pedestrian The Voyager is equipped with an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper determine when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet to provide greater clearance to hard structures underneath. Lancia showed that the system worked for a wide range of pedestrian statures and over a range of speeds, so the car was tested with the system deployed. Although some areas were good, most areas likely to be struck by a pedestrian's head offered poor protection. The area likely to be struck by a pedestrian's hip and pelvis was poor in all areas tested and scored no points. The bumper offered good protection to a pedestrian's legs. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard and met Euro NCAP's requirements. Speed limitation devices are not availble. There is a seatbelt reminder system for the driver and passenger seats only.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection for the knees and femurs of both driver and front passenger. Mercedes Benz showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and those sat in different positions. The M Class scored maximum points in the side barrier test. In the more severe side pole impact, protection of the chest was adequate and that of all other body areas was good. The front seats and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear impact. Child occupant Forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side impact, both child dummies were properly contained within the protective shells of their restraints, minimising the risk of dangerous head contact. The front passenger airbag can be disabled only by child restraints equipped with Mercedes Benz's automtic sensor system, known as CPOD. As there is no way of disabling the airbag for other rearward-facing restraints, the system was not rewarded by Euro NCAP. Permanently attached labels provided clear warnings of the dangers of using that seating position without first disabling the airbag. Pedestrian The M Class has an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the rear of the bonnet to provide greater clearance to hard structures underneath. Mercedes demonstrated that the system would deploy correctly for a wide range of pedestrian statures, and over a broad speed range. In all areas likely to be struck by the head of an adult, the bonnet provided good protection. In the areas likely to be struck by a child's head, protection was mixed, with areas of good, marginal and poor performance. The protection offered by the front edge of the bonnet to pedestrians was poor. Safety assist The M Class has electronic stability control as standard, as well a seatbelt reminder system for the driver, passenger and rear seats. A driver-set speed limitation device is standard equipment but did not meet Euro NCAP's requirements.

Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs for both the driver and front passenger dummies. Opel showed that a good level of protection would also be offered to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different seating positions. In both the side and pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated marginal protection of the chest area. However, the front seat and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision. Child occupant Forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive. Both the 3 year dummy and the 18 month dummy were properly contained within the shells of their restraints in the side impact, minimising the risk of dangerous head contact. The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. However, information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. Permanently attached labels on the sun visor clearly warn of the dangers of using a rearward facing child seat in that position. Pedestrian In all of the areas likely to be struck by an adult's head, protection was poor and no points were awarded for this part of the assessment. Conversely, the area likely to be struck by small adults and children provided good protection and scored maximum points. The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs. However, the protection offered to a pedestrians hip and pelvic area was poor. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard and met Euro NCAP's requirements. Speed limitation devices are available only as an option and were not assessed by Euro NCAP. There is a seatbelt reminder system for the driver and passenger seats only.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings for the passenger indicated good protecction of all body areas. There were no structures in the facia which might present a hazard to the knees or femurs, and protection of this body area was rated as good for both driver and front passenger. In the side impact all body regions were well protected but, in the pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated marginal chest protection. The front seat and head restraints provided good protection against whiplash injuries in a rear-end collision. Child occupant The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position, and clear information was provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag so the system was rewarded. Permanently attached labels on the sun visor clearly warn of the dangers of using a rearward facing child seat in that position without first disabling the airbag. In the frontal impact, forward movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive and, in the side impact, both child dummies were contained within the protective shells of their restraints, minimising the risk of dangerous head contacts. Pedestrian Most of the areas likely to be struck by an adult pedestrian's head offered poor protection but for small adults and children protection was mostly good. The protection offered to the hip and pelvic areas was poor in all areas tested. The bumper offered predominantly good protection to pedestrians' legs but some areas were marginal or poor. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard and met Euro NCAP's requirements. Speed limitation devices are only availble as an option. There is a seatbelt reminder system for the driver, passenger and rear seats, all of which met Euro NCAP's requirements.

COMMENTS
Adult occupant In the frontal impact, the passenger compartment remained stable. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Toyota showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. Maximum points were awarded for protection of the driver dummy, all body areas being well protected. In the side barrier test, dummy readings indicated good protection of all body areas. In the more severe side pole test, the curtain airbag became slightly trapped behind the trim of the windscreen pillar, and the head scores for both the side barrier and side pole tests were penalised. In the pole impact, dummy readings of rib compressions indicated marginal chest protection. The seat and head restraint provided marginal protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. Child occupant In the frontal impact, movement of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward facing restraint, was not excessive. In the side impact, both dummies were properly contained by the shells of their restraints. The passenger airbag can be disabled by means of a switch to allow a rearward facing restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. The dangers of using a rearward facing seat in the position without first disabling the airbag are explained in permanently attached labels. Pedestrian The bumper scored maximum points for protection of dummies' legs. The front edge of the bonnet was predominantly poor. In those areas likely to be struck by a child's head, the bonnet offered predominantly good protection, as it did for an adult's head. Safety assist Electronic stability control is standard equipment on all variants in most European countries but is an option on some variants in certain countries. The system met Euro NCAP's fitment requirements for 2011 and complied with the test requirements. A seat belt reminder is standard for the driver, passenger and rear seats. A speed limitation device is not available for the Yaris.
