THE RUSH OF SPEED Porschethe name is synonymous with technical perfection and elegant design. So its no surprise that Porsche would demand the same type of perfection from its logistics processes in its Leipzig plant. The goal: make the fastest, most precise, modern manufacturing facilities worldwide. This means eliminating all stock, resulting in a perfectly coordinated process chain from delivery all the way through to the finished car.

BIG AND SMALL ALIKE Porsche has more than 70 affiliate companies and is present practically all over the world. This poses a unique challenge when it comes to harmonizing the IT environment. Systems must support and optimize the processes within any given plant, while simultaneously integrating across the entire corporate structure. SAP ERP and SAP SCM fit perfectly into Porsches existing system environment, while seamlessly allowing individual solutions to be implemented at the respective locations. In Leipzig, for example, there are special modules for call-off orders, incoming goods, material supply and consignment. PORSCHE RUNS FASTER OFF THE PRODUCTION LINE Thanks to the SAP ERP and SAP SCM solutions, Porsche in Leipzig has created a masterpiece in logistics. Now within the same plant, the Panamera and Cayenne models can be built at the same time. Each model requires a degree of vertical integration and cooperation with other Porsche plants. As parts are delivered every hour, the flow of those goods is depicted in real-time. No inventories, no waiting times, instead the highest degree of precision and flexibility. Even if faced with a change on short notice, production will be able to stay in sync. PORSCHE STAYS AT THE TOP The SAP solutions are crucial to streamlining and speeding up production.
