SECTION A (40 marks) Answer all questions in this section. Candidates are advised to spend not more than 60 minutes on Section A. The Life and Teachings of Christ as contained in the Gospel of St. Luke 1 (a) Some time later his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and did not leave the house for . months. "Now at last the Lord has helped me," she said. "He has taken away my public disgrace!" (Luke 1:24-25) i) ii) iii) iv) (b) Name Elizabeths husband. For how many months did Elizabeth hide herself ? Explain what she meant by my public disgrace. What had her husband been told about the role to be fulfilled by their child? [1] [1] [2] [1]

Once there was a man who went out to sow. As he scattered the seed in the field, some fell along the path, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it up. (Luke 8:5) i) ii) iii) What does the seed represent? Explain the meaning of the path and what happened to the seed that fell on the path. Mention three other types of ground into which the seed fell. Jesus went on into Jericho and was passing through. There was a chief tax collector there He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was a little man and could not see Jesus because of the crowd. (Luke19:1-3) i) ii) iii) Name this man and what was his occupation ? [2] How did he show his repentance later on when Jesus was in his house? [2] What did Jesus say in response to his declaration? He sat down to eat with them, took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke the bread and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight. (Luke 24:30-31) i) ii) iii) iv) In which village did this event take place? SECTION B (60 marks) Answer any four questions. Each of Questions 3 to 8 carries 15 marks. The Life and Teachings of Christ as contained in the Gospel of St. Luke 3 (a) (b) (c) 4 (a) (b) (c) (a) (b) (c) Give an account of the occasion when the disciples plucked grain on the Sabbath. Describe the healing of the man with the withered hand. What can we learn about Jesus teaching concerning the Sabbath from these 2 incidents? Describe the preparations Jesus sent Peter and John to make for the last supper he was to eat with his disciples. [6] Narrate all that Jesus said and did at the Passover meal and the institution of the Lords Supper on this occasion. (Exclude the argument among the disciples). [6] Discuss the significance of the Lords Supper and how Jesus words were fulfilled on the following day. [3]

[10] In what other way did King Herod show his arrogance and how did God deal with him. [3] Name Pauls companions in travel on his voyage to Rome.
