EDELMAN ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH DEPAUL UNIVERSITY First-of-its-kind partnership to enhance health communication experience for graduate students CHICAGO, November 11, 2011 Edelman, the worlds largest independent public relations firm, has announced its first-of-its-kind collaboration with DePaul Universitys College of Communication to launch a robust traineeship and healthcare communication course in winter quarter 2012 for the universitys health communication graduate track students. Edelman worked closely with DePaul to identify highly qualified staff members to teach a new course designed specifically for DePauls newly created master of arts in health communication program. We are thrilled to join forces with DePaul University to foster an enhanced understanding of strategic health communications, said Gina Hayes, general manager, Health at Edelman. Our two organizations share a deep commitment to forging innovation and developing top-notch communication leaders. The universitys new health communication graduate track is a fantastic opportunity for Edelman to share its rich and relevant expertise and meet students who will become the skilled health communication practitioners of tomorrow. Students participating in the traineeship will receive course credit following completion of a capstone project centered on timely issues and trends in healthcare. Graduates of the new program will be able to understand the links between effective communication and high-quality health care. Theyll learn the skills needed to design and deliver health communication campaigns and to implement and evaluate heath service delivery programs for patients and their families. Our collaboration with Edelman offers students in our new master of arts in health communication program an amazing combination of experiences that embrace the best of what the academic and professional worlds have to offer, said Jackie Taylor, dean of the College of Communication. DePauls reputation in the public relations industry and Chicago location have made it possible to build a relationship like this one with Edelman. We see this as a major advantage for our students. DePaul students interested in the program must demonstrate a strong writing ability, good organizational skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments, and deadlines. Trainees should have a strong desire to learn and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. DePaul students can apply for the traineeship by contacting Graciela Kenig, director of internships at the College of Communication, at gkenig@depaul.edu. ### About Edelman Edelman is the worlds largest independent public relations firm, with wholly owned offices in 60 cities and 4,000 employees worldwide.
