Hypothesis & Rationale Bivariate

The marital status of a person determines the income that he or she recieves for their family. If a person marital status is married then the higher his or her income will be. If a person marital status is never married or separated then his/her income will be low. Therefore a larger respondent who is married will have a income of 60,000 or more compared to those who are separated.

Marital Status

Family Income

Hypothesis & Rationale Multivariate

The relationship between marital status and income will be somewhat similar to the original bivariate relationship of whites and blacks, but it will be higher for whites than blacks. Being married increases a higher income for both whites and black but more so for whites. Therefore a larger percentage of whites who are married will have an income of 60,000 or more compared to blacks with the same marital status.
