On Time Delivery
Our record speaks for itself. This is an area of our business that we have dedicated much time and many resources to develop. All of our customers have come to depend on and demand this service.
Partnership
We realize this is the most overused term in business today. But for a specialty business like ours, partnership means strength. Working together makes us collectively stronger than if we worked independently. Unlike other national belting wholesalers we are selective in our approach to the market place. We choose our partners carefully and remain loyal to their success. It takes time to develop such trust in business relationships, but we have and it works.
Direct Shipments
When requested, we will ship your order directly to your customer. Our name will not appear on any of the paperwork. We will ship using your bill of lading and packing list.
Pricing Agreements
There are situations where you are asked by your customers to hold pricing levels for specific periods of time in exchange for an anticipated volume of purchases. We offer similar pricing agreements that allow you to effectively pursue this type of business.

GAUGE BELT THICKNESS TOLERANCES There are no RMA thickness tolerances established for conveyor belting because they are often no consequence. The following standards are for guides if thickness is determined to be important and declared at time of order for make-up constructions. These values are generally reasonable, but tighter tolerances may be negotiated. NOTE: Thickness tolerances must be specified on purchase orders if they are to be considered binding.

TROUBLE
PROBLEMS - CAUSES - SOLUTIONS TRACKING PROBLEMS PROBLEM Belt runs off at tail pulley. CAUSE 1. Material build-up on tail pulley. 2. Material build-up on tail snub pulley. 3. Counterweight is too light. 4. Tail pulley, tail snub pulley, or return idlers are out of the line. 5. Frozen return idlers. 6. Improper loading, spillage. 7. Self-aligning return idlers inoperative or ineffectively placed. 1. Idlers may be out of square with the the centerline of the belt. 2. Belt strained or elongated excessively on one side. 3. Self-aligning, troughing, or return idlers inoperative or placed ineffectively. 4. Material build-up on pulleys and idlers.
SHOOTING
SOLUTION 1. Install a scraper diagonally across the pulley side of the belt on the return just ahead of the tail pulley. 2. Use proper cleaning device and install scraper against snub pulley. Improve housekeeping. 3. Recalculate and adjust required counterweight. 4. Realign. Install limit switches for greater safety. 5. Free idlers. Lubricate. Improve maintenance. 6. Feed should be in direction of belt travel and at belt speed; provide proper skirtboards. 7. Adjust or correct self-aligning return idlers. 1. Align idlers. 2. If belt is new, allow sufficient time for it to break in. If belt doesnt break in properly or it is not a new belt, cut out strained section squarely and splice in new section. 3. Adjust or correct idlers. 4. Install proper cleaning devices and improve maintenance. If condition is severe, consider twisted-run belt installations, in which return run will be turned over so that idlers and pulleys in return run are in contact with relatively clean bottom cover of belt.
1. Re-splice, making sure that splice is squared with average centerline of belt. 2. Avoid storing belt rolls improperly. Avoid telescoping belt rolls. If the belt is new, it will probably straighten out when properly broken in. If belt doesnt straighten, it must be replaced. 3. One edge is damaged and moisture penetration 3. Repair belt edge or cut out badly worn and out-of-square section. Splice in new section. is causing length change on one edge. 1. Feed should be in direction of belt travel, at belt speed, and centered on the belt. 2. Clean accumulation. Improve maintenance. Install v decking. 1. Control flow by use of feeders and properly designed chutes.
Entire belt runs off along carrying run. 1. Improper loading: material is fed onto belt off-center. 2. Material build-up between decking and idler. Belt runs off at loading point. 1. Material spurs onto belt from direct feeding without flow control; material is fed onto belt off-center. 1. Head shaft may not be square with the centerline of the conveyor. 2. Worn pulley lagging. 3. Idlers ahead of head pulley are out of alignment. 1. Idler(s) may be out of square with the belt, or may not be level, or a roller may not be turning freely because of lack of lubrication or a bad bearing. 1. Belt too stiff transversely to conform well to carrying idler rolls. 2. Load is too light. 3. Belt is new and therefore stiff.
1. Realign conveyor structure of head shaft. 2. Replace worn lagging. 3. Realign idlers. 1. Correct defect and set idlers so that the belt runs true. Idler stands have slotted hole in the bases for adjustment.
Belt runs to one side throughout entire length at a specific idler or group of idlers. Belt does not contact middle idler rolls.
1. Consult manufacturer recommendation for minimum troughing. Select belt with more transverse flexibility. 2. Reduce belt speed. 3. Allow proper break-in time. Can be hastened by letting belt stand over night while loaded.
1. Wind blowing against belt forces it out of line. 1. Erect wind baffles or improve existing belt housing. Use self-aligning idlers. Paint framing with Sun on one side of steel framing causes uneven aluminum paint to reflect heat. expansion in the steel. 1. Belt is too stiff or thick to train or is not broken in properly. 1. Use self-aligning idlers. 2. Tilt troughing idlers forward, but not more than two degrees. 3. Run the belt slower, so that it carries a heavier cross-section of the load. 4. If, after sufficient time has been allowed for break-in period, the belt must be replaced by a more troughable conveyor.
Belt raises up off top-run idlers in the 1. Oil contamination of belt cover. center to a convex position. Belt runs out at tripper. 1. Tripper track gauge too great for wheels, pulling tripper out of square with belt. Belt wears against tripper frame.
1. Using tire-grooving tool, score shallow grooves two or three inches apart in the belt top cover longitudinally, over portion effected. When replacing belt, specify oil-resistant conveyor belt. 1. Reduce tripper track gauge. Realign tripper pulleys.

TROUBLE
PROBLEM BELT SLIPPAGE AND STRETCH Belt slip.
SHOOTING
CAUSE SOLUTION 1. Insufficient traction between the belt and pulley. 1. Increase wrap by use of snub pulley. Use lagged pulleys. In wet conditions, use grooved lagging. Install centrifugal switch for safety. 2. Pulleys to small. 2. Increase pulley diameter. 3. Frozen return of troughing idlers. 3. Free idlers. Lubricate. Improve maintenance. 4. Material build-up between decking and idlers. 4. Cleat accumulation. Improve maintenance. Use inverted v decking. 5. Insufficient slack side tension. 5. Increase counterweight or increase screw take-up tension. 1. Counterweights are too light. 2. Worn pulley lagging. 3. Frost or excessive moisture condensing on drive pulleys. 4. Pulleys too small. 5. Over-lubrication of idler seeps onto belt surface. 6. Starting acceleration time is too short. 1. Drive is underbelted 2. Counterweights too heavy. 3. Incorrect compensation of rim speeds on tandem pulleys. 4. Permeation of carcass by chemicals, oil, or acids; or deterioration by heat. 5. Belt-line is over-extended. 1. Improper slack side tension. 1. Increase counterweight or increase screw take-up tension. 2. Replace. 3. Enclose belt-line. Install grooved pulley lagging. 4. Use larger-diameter pulleys. 5. DONT OVER-LUBRICATE. 6. Correct. 1. Recalculate maximum belt tension and select correct belt. 2. Recalculate the counterweight required to reduce take-up tension to point of slip and then tighten slowly. 3. Correct. Check condition and thickness of pulley lagging. Compensation for necessary rim speed differential is made by providing required thickness of lagging on primary and secondary belts. 4. Use belt designed for specific conditions. 5. Recalculate maximum belt tension. Use belt with greater tension rating. Use two-flight system with transfer point.
Stalling (Jerking)
1. Adjust take-up position. Consider lagging drive pulley and installing snub pulley to increase belt wrap on drive pulley. 2. In slider bed service, suction between belt 2. Weld 1/4 or 1/2 round rods to slider bed surface or perforate conveyor bed. Round off and and slider bed surface in presence of moisture. smooth all surfaces in contact with belt. 1. Install cleaning devices. Improve maintenance. 2. Use proper loading chute. Use vulcanized splices. 3. Recalculate the counterweight required or reduce take-up tension to point of slip and then tighten slightly. 4. Replace. 5. Correct. 6. 7. 8. 9. Check and correct tension; use vulcanized splices. Use skirtboards properly. Remove accumulation. Improve maintenance. Use larger-diameter pulleys. Use proper fasteners. Retighten after running belt for short while. Set up regular inspection schedule.
FASTENER AND VULCANIZED SPLICES Belt breaks at or behind fasteners. 1. Build-up of material on pulleys. Fasteners tear loose. 2. Excessive impact on fasteners under loading conditions. 3. Counterweight too heavy. 4. Worn pulley lagging. 5. Incorrect compensation of rim speeds on tandem pulleys. 6. Excessive tension. 7. Material falling between belt and pulleys. 8. Pulleys too small. 9. Wrong type or size of fasteners or fasteners not tight enough. 10. Interference from belt scrapers. 11. Excessive motor horsepower. Poor fastener-holding ability. Vulcanized splice separation. 1. Belt carcass too heavy. 2. Excessive heat. 1. Counterweight too heavy. 2. Worn pulley lagging. 3. Incorrect compensation of rim speeds on tandem pulleys. 4. Chemical or oil in load. 5. Belt line over-extended. 6. Pulleys too small. 7. Splice improperly made. 1. Material build-up on pulleys and return idlers. 2. Excessive impact of material on belt. Acid mine water, oil, or chemical in load. Exposure to heat, ozone or sun. Chute clogging. Tramp iron causing damage. Relative velocity of material fed onto belt is too high. 8. Belt gives under impact at loading point, allowing material to be trapped under skirtboards. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.
10
10. Adjust belt scraper. 11. Recalculate and reduce motor horsepower. 1. Select proper belt for maximum tension rating. 2. Use vulcanized splices. Use proper belt for high temperatures. 1. Recalculate the counterweight required, or reduce take-up tension to point of slip and then tighten slightly. 2. Replace lagging. 3. Correct. 4. 5. 6. 7. Use belt designed for specific condition. Recalculate tension. Use belt with greater tension rating. Use pulleys of larger diameter. See recommended splicing instructions.
COVER PROBLEMS Excessive top cover wear (including rips, gouges, ruptures, and tears).
1. Install cleaning device. Remove accumulation. Improve maintenance. 2. Install proper loading chute and baffles. Install impact idlers. Use proper belt to handle impact. Load lines first. 3. Use belt designed for specific condition. 4. Enclose belt-line. 5. Use better-designed chute. 6. Use magnetic pulleys or other magnetic devices to remove tramp iron. 7. Adjust chutes or feeders or increase belt speed. Consider use of impact idlers or accelerating feeder belt. 8. Install cushioning idlers to hold belt against skirts. Close up idler spacing to reduce sag.

BELT TRACKING
TROUBLE
SHOOTING
V-guides can only solve minor run-off tendencies. Minor run-off tendencies have to be expected in installations with a narrow belt width, low speed, low tensioning force and where no external transverse forces act upon the belt. When these conditions are not present, v-guides are not the recommendation, as they tend to pop out of the groove. An exception is to utilize v-guides for belt tracking with short wide belts. Crowning one or several pulleys in a system is the most common way to track a belt. Crown specifications for radius crowns and trapezoidal crowns are listed below.

Note:
The cylindrical part of the pulley Wc is half of the belt width Wb. Also, it is recommended for the pulley width Wp to be approximately 10 to 20% wider than the belt width Wb for the pulley crown to function properly. For pulley widths less than 8 in., use a radius crown and refer to the flat belt pulley specifications above.

ENDLESS
Endless splicing methods eliminate the need for hardware fasteners. Excellent for food processing and applications where products need to be handled with greater care.
A precision grinding technique is used to achieve uniform thickness at the splice point for a variety of applications.
SKIVED SPLICED
For thermoplastic, urethane and PVC belts. A very durable splice that maintains a smooth, highly consistent belt surface right through the splice area. Multiple finger patterns are available to meet a variety of applications and system pulley sizes.
FINGER SPLICE
We square and prepare the belts ends in our fabrication facility for hot or cold cement bonding on the customers site. Cement bonding kits with usage instructions are available.
ENDLESS-PREPARED
Bi-Directional
Utilizes more fingers than the standard finger splice. Fingers are cut from multiple plies, staggered, then fused together by heat and pressure to create an even stronger, more flexible splicing solution.
STITCHED REINFORCEMENT
Certain applications put unusual wear on splices and edges. These areas can be strengthened with stitching. Bi-Directional
Bi-Directional Very wide belts are created by longitudinally splicing two or more belts of lesser dimension. Plies are expertly stepped and bonded in our fabrication facility. The result is a uniformly smooth belt as wide as the application requires. Ultra-wide belts can be made endless prior to shipping...or have ends prepared for splicing in the field. V-guides and other profiles can be added as required.
