Modern terminals, efcient highway and rail connections, longshore productivity and a wide range of shipping line
services and schedules have helped make the Port of Tacoma one of the major ports on the West Coast. As a major
load center for commerce, the Port has also attracted a large number of 3PL service providers that ofer expertise

The Port of Tacoma is located in an industry-only zone away from congested metropolitan areas and
within two miles of Interstate 5.
A designated heavy-haul corridor within the Port industrial area helps expedite movement of overweight
containerized agricultural and industrial bulk commodities between transload facilities and Port terminals.
Two U.S. Customs Centralized Exam Stations and multiple facilities ofer on-site USDA, FDA
inspections within the Port area.
Multiple international shipping lines with regular service to major ports of call throughout Asia; service to
Alaska via Horizon Lines and Totem Ocean Trailer Express.
Full-service container and breakbulk facilities for a wide range of cargo; including ocean containers,
high-wide-and-heavy, roll-on/roll-of, lift-on/lift-of, and non-wheeled cargoes.
Rail service by BNSF Railway and Union Pacifc Railroad, and connecting Tacoma to major consumer
markets in the Pacifc Northwest and throughout the United States.
More than 20 transload and distribution centers within the Port industrial area to choose from. Many of
these facilities have unique features, such as specialized handling equipment and highly skilled labor for
transload and storage of agricultural and industrial commodities, and refrigerated and consumer goods.
The Port of Tacoma has one of the most productive
longshore labor forces on the U.S. West Coast.
