Hypothesis

The initial bivariate hypothesis is quite simple. If you are a gun owner you are more likely to be influenced by religion. The independent variable in this scenario would be GUNLAW, which poses the question to the subject, of whether or not a gun permit should be applicable to those who would like to exercise the right to bear arms. On the other end of the spectrum lies the dependent variable in this scenario it would be RELIG stating whatever denomination the subject associates themselves with. The influence of the independent variable upon the dependent variable should be apparent; the gun law, as far as the allowance of a permit will always stand alone the law in its self is autonomous but the religion that each subject identifies with can vacillate depending on the smallest idiosyncrasy seen in the eyes of men. The secondary multivariate hypothesis has an added factor. If you are a gun owner you are more likely to be influenced by religion controlling for political party identification or PARTYID3 . The independent variable of GUNLAW remains the same as well as the dependent variable of RELIG but the added factor of PARTYID3 , could influence whether the subject is a strong supporter of the second amendment and whether this party association could out weight the religious dependent factor.

Rationale To address the initial stated hypothesis, is relatively simple in correlation to the aforementioned variables. Taking hypothesis one correlating the relationship between the independent variable GUNLAW and the dependent variable being that of RELIG . The independent variable of GUNLAW will always in its self be able to attain autonomy simply because it is an issue all its own. The fact of the matter that the question being posed to the subjects deals with the allowance of a gun permit is for the sake of argument and proposal specifically irrefutable in this instance, it will remain independent because its stance cannot be swayed one way or another by the correlating dependent variable. Secondly the dependent variable of RELIG is in fact a controversial variable due to its many nuances, the association of a subject to a specified religion can change with the very disagreement of a minuet factor, not to mention that the very fickle nature of a subjects association or assimilation to a said religion can change simply by the figurative blowing of the wind. The secondary hypothesis which adds the controlled variable as a factor can drastically shape the outcome of the numerical data produced from the survey. The relationship between the independent and dependent variable is a functioning relationship controlling for a third party can skew the data. The influence of the Political Party Identification will divide the data into two separate groups those of which sided with an option depending on religious association and those who sided with a choice dependent upon political association
