PAPER NO. 14 : REVIEW OF THE MAJOR WRITINGS ON
HISTORY.

OBJECTIVE : This Course will inform the students of History about the
major and recent writing on History. It will emphasis
critical reading of the major texts of History which will
enable the students to situate historiography in proper
perspective.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS :

Course Contents or design of the Review of Book.

Note :

1 The below mentioned course contents are guidelines for review
purpose. The teachers are expected to guide the students according to
these guidelines, and get confirm whether the students have followed
these guidelines while reviewing the book.

2) Questions will be asked according to these guidelines in the Semester
- End examination conducted by the University.

3) List of the books for review is designed for three consecutive
academic years. According to this design there will be total change in
the list of books for every academic year. The concerned teachers and
students have to take the note of this change at the beginning of every
year.

Course Contents or Design of the Review of Book :
i) External Assessment of the Book :
Title of the book; Name and address of the author; Name and address
of the publisher and publication year ; price of the book; General
appearance of the book.

ii) About Author :
Review about the experience of author in the field; about the theme of
book which has been selected by author.

iii) Contents of the theme :
Analysis of the chapter scheme;
Source material utilized;
Methodology adopted;
Authors interpretations;
Illustrations Photographs, graphs, charts, maps, pictures, and if any
other tools.

iv) Conclusion :
Impressions about the book and authors interpretations of the theme;
Utility of the book and its reference value.
