Leadership Leadership means influencing people to follow the achievement of a common goal. Nature of leadership:1.

a leader must have followers. 2. common goal/group objective. 3. a leader influence his followers not push or force them. 4. power relationship exists in leadership. 5. it is a continous and dynamic process. Difference between management and leadership:Management 1. in management main activities are like planning and budgeting. 2. organizing and staffing. 3. controlling and problem solving. 4. manager does not have followers. Leadership 1. leadership is related with estlablishing direction. 2. in leadership leader influense people behaviour. 3. motivating and ispring. 4.leader have folloers.

What an leader do? 1. leader always upgrade their team and build self confidence. 2. leader always have trust and transparency. 3. leader must have enough guts to take decisiond. 4. leader must have risk taking attitude. 5. leader must have positive attitude and positive energy.

6. leader get into every ones skin types of leadership:1. autocratic 2. democratic 3. free-rein autocratic style:a autocratic leader have comlete control over the subordinates.he takes all decisions without consulting with subordinates. Advantages:1. it permits quick decision making. 2. it provides strong motivation and satisfication to the leader who dicates team. 3. this style have positive results when great speed is required. Disadvantages:1. it leads to frustration,low morale and conflict among subordinates. 2. here,the creative ideas are not utilized. 3. In this there is no opportunity for development of subordinates. Democratic style:In this,leader take decisions in consulation and participaton with the subordinates and there majority opininon of subordinates are taken. Advantages:1. improve job satisfication and morale of subordinates. 2. it cultivates decision making ability of subordinates. 3. labour turnover is reduced. 4. it develops positivr attitude. Disadvantages:1. this style is time consuming and may result in delay in decision making. 2. over a period of time subordinates may develop the habit of expecting to be consulted on every issue. 3. this style is not apporiate when subordinates prefer minimum interaction with the leader. Free-rein style:It involves complete delegation of authority so that subordinates themselves take decisions. Advantages:1. postive impact on job satisfication and morale of subordinates.

2. maximum possible scope for development of subordinates. 3. full utilization of the potential of subordinates. Disadvantages:1. subordinates do not get guidance and support of leader. 2. it ignores yhe leaders contribution just as autocratic style ignores the contribution of the subordinates. 3. here,subordinates may more in different subordinates and may work at cross purposes.
