Persons Arrested 1 Exercise 3: Persons arrested by offense, sex, and race in 2008

Exercise #3 Persons arrested by offense, sex, and race in 2008. Brandan Hall SOWK 300 Tuskegee University September 16, 2011 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to address the problems with people being arrested by sex, race, and offense in 2008. The main problem at hand is overall reproduction, with the overall population of people being arrested this starts to put a limit on the amount of people being born in the United States. By utilizing the following graphs I will attempt to identify the magnitude, scope, changes, and disparities of the problem. The Problem of both men and women being arrested has a direct effect on the total population of human race particularly.

Magnitude figure 1

Descriptive discussion In the following Pie chart in figure 1 above, clearly we see that the number of people arrested due to drug abuse violations by race. The problem is that drug abuse violation in 2008 reported numbers in high amounts of people, of various ethnicities. Drug abuse is high in many communities worldwide. Drug abuse violation arrests are very widespread across the human population; this eventually will lead to the decrease in the total population of the human race. Interpretive discussion In figure 1- 452.6% the black population was arrested due to drug abuse violations. Many reasons can cause people to start abusing drugs and in the result of long term consequences leads to getting arrested. 829.4% of the white population got arrested in 2008 as well. These numbers are high, and with people continuously getting arrested causes a decrease in the total population of the human race. The total amount of the population reported by the census.gov statistical abstract database was 1063.6%. The magnitude of the problem is that drug abuse violations are high and it affects people of various races. Scope Figure 2

Descriptive discussion In the graph above the following regions reported the number of arrests in 2008 made. The Midwest region reported 387.1% of the population was arrested. In the West 594.3% of the populated was arrested for drug abuse violations. In the South 568.7% reported to be arrested. 487.1% of the East reported arrested. Interpretive discussion Drug abuse violation arrests vary worldwide. This problem affects the reproduction of the population in general. According to the census in 2008 the four particular regions that are examined are the Midwest the West the East and the South. In the figure above the problem is the percentages are very high all across the United States. This problem is widespread between various regions and throughout the overall population. Changes Figure 3

Persons Arrested 3

Descriptive discussion In the figure 3 above is a graph which lists the drug abuse arrest rates over a 3 decade period. From 1980 to 2008 the arrest rates have created a various amount of changes in the amount of people arrested in the population. Over time this problem varies as we see in 1980 the arrest rate for drug abuse crimes was a lot lower(4,436,000) than it is in 1990 (5,078,000) at as the graph approaches the later years. For example in figure 3, in the year of 1980 the rate was lower than it is in 2005 at 12,206,000 arrests. The arrest rates rise and fall over the years. Interpretive discussion The figure above is a clear representation for the patterns in which the problem varies over time between rising and falling. In 1980 the drug abuse rate was a lot lower at only 4,436,000 as we approach the present the arrest rates are on a constant rise by an extremely greater amount; for example in 1980 the rate was 4.4 million and in 2008 the rate is at 10 million. Clearly as time changes and approaches the present drug abuse arrest begin to vary in both larger and smaller amounts, mostly in larger amounts. Disparities Figure 4

Numbers are represented in millions

Descriptive discussion In figure 4.The chart shows the different groups of people arrested due to drug abuse offenses in 2008. The disparity between males and females is quite significant in this case. In the year 2008 the census reported that 10063 million males were arrested for drug abuse violations. Also in the year of 2008 female on the other hand only had 2.4 million who were arrested due to drug abuse violations. With the population of males arrested higher than females this limits the amount of reproduction that can take place resulting in a decrease in the human race. Also we see that the disparity between whites arrested is significantly higher than blacks. In 2008 829.4 million whites were arrested leaving only 452.6million blacks arrested. Interpretive discussion Above in the figure we see the different disparities between race, and sex occurs relating to the problem. The number of males arrested is very high compared to females that are arrested; in result a lack of reproduction will occur. Also we see that there are clearly way more white people at 829.4 million arrested in 2008 for drug abuse violations, than blacks at only 452.6 million as seen above in figure 4. Clearly the problem has a broad amount of effects on the overall population. If we continue to see crimes like this we will eventually see a decrease in the human race. Summary and Conclusion Drug abuse violations have a lot of different consequences; in particular being arrested is the consequence which results the lack of men and women being able to reproduce freely. The total number of people arrested in 2008 for drug abuse is very high, and continues to decrease the population in general, and African Americans in particular due to lack of reproduction occurring as a result of being arrested for drug abuse Violations. Drug abuse is highly common in the United States today. As a result of being arrested one forfeits all their privileges as a citizen. You are not only confined to a cell with one

Persons Arrested 5 or more individuals of the same sex, but also neglected freedom to reproduce. With the total population of males being arrested in 2008 higher than females reproduction becomes less and less possible. According to census.gov statistical abstract database, in 2008 the total number of male arrested due to drug abuse violations was 1,063.5 males, and 240.6 females; in result there is a major disparity between the number of males arrested and females arrested in 2008 for drug abuse violations. Overall, with the population of males being higher in jail then females this creates a decrease in the overall reproduction of human beings and causes a lack of males to mate with the females to start reproduction in the total population. According to the quantitative aspects the number of males in the black race is consistently higher than females and vice versa for the white race. Drug abuse violation arrest has a direct impact on the employment status of an individual in particular males. Also according to the data found incarceration is a result of drug abuse violations. Males have a higher risk of being arrested and therefore have an effect on reproduction in the population. Conclusion Overall, the problem is that drug abuse violations continue to rise and vary amongst many races and sexes. The Problem of both men and women being arrested has a direct effect on the total population of human race particularly. All in all I have found that the disparity between males and females is very high and this alone causes a stunt in population growth. Throughout the magnitude, scope, changes, and disparities all have significance in the arrests made due to drug abuse, we find that this problem is one that varies over time and can create a decrease in the human population reproduction process if it is not corrected.
