Language Line Services, together with its partners, MOFFITT Cancer Center, the Office of Minority Health, Florida Department of Health, Florida Hospital Association and the International Medical Interpreter Association (IMIA) are pleased to present a unique full day program focused on:

"Addressing the Linguistic & Cultural Needs of Floridas Diverse Patient Population" December 20, 2011 H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa, Florida
A free symposium for health care providers that addresses standards, regulatory and legal compliance, as well as best practices and solutions to provide language access and culturally competent care for the states growing diverse patient population. Language Line Services Language Access Center for Excellence and its partners, invite health care providers across the state to join us for a unique nofee educational program to address the new requirements by The Joint Commission and how Florida's hospitals can ensure effective communication in a cost-contained environment. A series of educational sessions will be presented by subject matter experts to cover issues that Floridas health care system face on a daily basis and the impact these issues can have on quality care, patient safety and outcomes. We will hear from speakers regarding the new and revised standards on PatientCentered Communication and on the new revisions of the CLAS standards, as well as legal perspectives and risk management strategies on how to best address language access compliance. We will also hear a physicians account on best practices in caring for limited English proficient patients in a hospital setting and in home visits. Floridas Office of Minority Health will be presenting on the work within the state on delivering cultural competent care, and how one hospital has successfully incorporated technology into their language access program. We will also hear from the International Medical Interpreter Association and other important presenters on the importance of working with qualified interpreters,
