ABOUT CBS

University of Delhi is one of the twenty elite Central Universities across India. CBS is the
pioneer constituent college of University of Delhi offering business degrees at the
undergraduate level.

The courses equip the students with the necessary competence in key business functions,
thus enabling them to embark on challenging and rewarding careers in management.

Presently, we offer three 3-year full time degree courses, ‘Bachelor of Business Studies’
(BBS), ‘Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis’ (BFIA), and B.Sc.(H) Computer
Science. The fourth course is a one and a half-year postgraduate full-time diploma course
leading to the award of ‘Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications’ (PGDCA).

An experienced and well-qualified faculty, and the cream of students selected through an
all India entrance are the lifeline of this flagship institution of the University of Delhi. All
this, added with a good teaching culture and ethos gives us the position of leadership
amongst all other colleges imparting undergraduate business education in India.

Today, CBS is the most sought after institution for learning and carries scholastic
reputation of its own right. CBS committed itself to excellence in professional education
and, ever since, has religiously lived up to its commitment. Every year a rich harvest of
business managers, financial analysts, and management experts emerge from its portals to
further add to our nation’s corporate clan.

LIFE AND LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Along with an intense educational experience, students have ample opportunity to enjoy
life as well. We support events and activities in the form of more than fifteen clubs that
vary from purely social to strictly professional. Given the number of new activities
emerging each year, balancing their time with extra-curricular interests is a leadership
challenge that the students win from the very first day on campus. These activities
include:

 Convergence – Industry Academics Seminar


A two day seminar, the event is spread over four sessions covering areas of
Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and IT. Convergence
facilitates interaction with corporates. Experts are invited as speakers to share
their views on a theme, followed by interactive sessions.

 Financial Wizards – The Stock Exchange Simulation


The college organizes Financial Wizards, a stock exchange simulation. Becoming
a rage in the corporate circles, the game involves the use of computer networks
to simulate a realistic stock exchange replete with speculative as well as news
based transactions.

 Reminiscence – Alumni Network: A life long community


The alumni dinner, hosted to bring together our most valuable asset. Our alumni
play leading roles in organizations around the world. The highly selective
programme results in a uniquely committed and responsive alumni community.
Relationships forged with classmates and faculty during the CBS experience
become lifelong connections.

 Crescendo – Business & Cultural Festival


The annual CBS fest witnesses a congregation of thousands of students from
across the country, who slog it out to be the best. The events are a balance of
managerial competitions such as Case Study Analysis, Business Plan Competition,
Apprentice, & cultural competitions like Music, Dramatics, etc.

CBS Alumni Association

Although CBS is not very old, we are proud of the Brand Equity we have established in

India in terms of quality of education at our Alma Mater and of our alumni some of

whom have achieved enviable heights in Corporate World.

The CBS Legacy of which we are proud today, has been established over the years

through great efforts of the CBSites.

The college is proud of its current students and scintillating alumni, who have together

established this great legacy.

And together our dream is to leverage the Brand CBS in the Industry and make CBS one

of the most sought-after institutions in India and the world through all round

development of CBS in terms of Infrastructure, Technology and Human Resource

Quality with the help of our beloved alumni.

CBS has a significant Alumni Base of about more than 1700 alumni.

CBSAA is a platform for CBS Alumni and students to interact with each other and to

contribute to their mutual development thereby creating a synergic development of CBS.

Since its inception, it has achieved quite a lot.

In the year 2006, it organized few workshops for CBSites. Besides, it has been constantly

working for updation of CBS Alumni database, now boasting of many Star Alumni.

REMINISCENCE ‘07

The college has assumed the responsibility of alumni interaction by organizing the
alumni dinner annually inviting the alumni, all of whom are very well placed in their
respective careers, to again enliven the spirit of a CBSite and spread it. Such get-
togethers provide an excellent opportunity for the college to update and appraise itself of
the career advancement of its alumni.

The alumni in turn have contributed constructively by making relevant suggestions for
the development of our students in their respective organizations and institutions.
Further, they have also been participating in creating opportunities for our students in
their respective organizations. This get-together also aims at strengthening the bond
between the ex-students and their alma mater.

Reminiscence is an extravaganza of nostalgia, which is desired to be experienced


first hand by our beloved alumni.

WHAT’S SPECIAL THIS
THIS TIME?



 Election Of Alumni Executive Council
On the day of the event, there shall be held elections for putting up an Alumni
Executive Council, which shall be the governing body of CBS Alumni
Association. The office bearers of Alumni Executive Council shall subscribe to
the rules of a society/trust, and shall get the association registered as society/
trust under the existing law.



 Registration of Alumni Association
After electing the Executive Council of the CBSAA on the day of the
Reminiscence, we will get the association registered under the law. For the same,
we are seeking legal services of Mr. Vincent Sanjay,
a CBS Alumnus (1999) and a lawyer.



 Raising of Alumni Fund
This is an initiative to involve the alumni in the building up of CBS as a world
class institution. An alumni fund comprises of the donations and gifts received
from the well-placed alumni and other donors, through a charitable organization
(the alumni body), in order to fund and promote education and research among
students, faculty and alumni at its alma mater. The use of funds is solely decided
by the donor or the alumni committee. Still some areas where CBS may wish to
deploy this fund are:
 Infrastructure Development - Maintaining & developing the
present infrastructure.
 Funding of College Activities and Events
 Scholarships for Students.
 Research Projects.
 Library Up-gradation.
 Modernization of AV Facilities and IT Labs.
 Funding collaborations with other management colleges etc.



 Industry-School Revision Committee
Like in any good B-School, CBS plans to invite its alumni to take part in
developing the syllabi of courses in college, in sync with the industry trends &
requirements. Therefore, although the panel might not be active in short term
period, but in long term, college plans to start with this industry interactive
practice as soon as possible.



 Alumni Website
We are in the process of coming up with a new dynamic, multi-featured, hi-
profile website of college before the end of this year, which will facilitate great
amount of interaction between the alumni and students and amongst alumni.
The website shall extend placement services to our alumni and companies alike.

All the year round, we very frequently have activities in which alumni are actively
involved. We involve alumni of college in following ways:
 Academic/Industry Interaction
• Informal Student-Alumni Interactions
• Assistance in Placements, which made records last time

• Interview Skills Workshop
• CV building workshop

 Extra-curricular
• Invitation as Guest speaker at Convergence (CBS’ annual
Corporate Seminar).
• Invitation to all college event and activities including being
called as participants and Judges to various events and
competitions of the college.
• On the interview panel of admissions of Freshers to college.
• Help in sponsorships & invitation as guests in annual festival
Crescendo.
• Inviting articles and having interviews for college Newsletter.

For the coming future, we have proposed few more activities, which will ensure
more dynamic involvement of alumni in college:

 Wall of Fame (In college; wherein we’ll frequently put up
profiles of our Star Alumni)
 Mentor Program (to provide college students with personal
mentors from industry, in form of alumni)

and the world.
