CHAPTER 2: SYSTEM REQUIREMENT STUDY



2.1 USER CHARACTERISTICS
Food card System has three types oI Users.
1. dministrator
2. Corporate customer
3. Corporate employee
4. Store
1. Administrator
dministrator manages the corporate customer and corporate employee. dministrator
can add and remove corporate customer, corporate employee and store. dministrator can
see the proIile oI corporate customer, corporate employee and Store. Based on corporate
customer request administrator needs to be block card with proper validation.
2. Corporate customer
Corporate customer would tie up with these Iood card providers and provide corporate
employees the Iood card as part oI their salary package. Corporate customer can add and
remove corporate employee. Corporate customer can see the proIile oI corporate
employee. Food card system will provide bulk upload Iacility to upload multiple
employee records Ior a corporate client. Food card system will provide a unique corporate
customer id to corporate customer.
3. Corporate employee
Corporate customer provides Iood card to their corporate employee as a part oI their
salary package. Corporate employee can see their proIile. They can change their details
like address, email and mobile number when ever needed. They also can change their
password. Corporate employee need their Employee ID and password to login in the Iood
card system.

4. Store
Voucher providing companies tie up with Store. Store includes Retailers, Hotels, and
Clubs at all to provide redemption oI the vouchers at all their Iacilities.

2.2 HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT
Food card system is done using JSPs / Servlets as a Iront end and MySQL Database as
a back end.
2.2.1 GlassFish Server
GlassFish Server 3.1.1 provides a lightweight, modular server Ior the development oI
Java PlatIorm Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 6 applications and Java Web Services. It delivers
enterprise perIormance, scalability, and reliability.

Operating System
GlassFish Server is available Ior Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac, and IX.

Required Disk Space
The installation sizes will vary depending on conIiguration, but the approximate amount oI
disk space used by a GlassFish Server 3.1.1 is as Iollows:
Full: 250MB
Web: 150MB

2.2.2 MySQL Community Server
MySQL Community Server is a Ireely downloadable version oI the world's most
popular open source database that is supported by an active community oI open source
developers and enthusiasts.
Operating System
MySQL is available Ior Windows, Linux, Unix, Mac and Solaris.
2.2.3 1ava SE 7
Java SE 7 includes JDK 7 and JRE 7. JRE (Java Runtime Environment) run Java
applications and applets. To develop Java applications and applets, you need the JDK (Java
Development Kit), which includes the JRE.
Operating System
Java SE 7 is available Ior both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS.
Processor Requirements for Windows OS
Both the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) and Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)
require at minimum a Pentium 2 266 MHz processor.

2.3CONSTRAINTS
Regulatory Policies
OThe soItware will work using n-Tier architecture. Hence necessary soItwares are needed to
be installed.

Reliability Requirements
OUser is ensured that the system would be reliable at the time oI Power Failure.
Criticality of the Application
OII the user enters the wrong command at the wrong time then the system may not work
according to desire.
Safety and Security Consideration
OOnly authorized employees are permitted to access the soItware. Entry into any module is
permitted only aIter the soItware checks validity oI the id and password. Several security
levels have been devised with separate privileges Ior diIIerent Iunctions.
Occess to any oI the modules is also controlled through permissions available to particular
users which can be managed by the System dministrator.
OThe user is ensured that there would be no data loss while using this Iood card system.
Assumption and Dependencies
OThe system will be using Communication Port, web server and dependent on internet
connection.
