Chayei Sarah

This weeks Torah Portion, Chayei Sarah/Life of Sarah, covering Genesis 23:1-25:18, provides for us the details of the death of Sarah, Abraham, and Ishmael, as well as the intro of Rebekah as the wife of Isaac. Yet the focus is on chayei Sarah Sarahs life! Of 54 portions, only 6 are named after individuals, making this one of the unique few, and of the 6 this is the only named after a woman, causing the life of Sarah to stand out. Sarah is also the only woman whose age is recorded in the Torah. Is this distinction only because she is the wife of Abraham, or is there more to these details? Lets peel back the layers and see the message that Sarahs life conveys for the Bride today! Sarahs life up to this point has been marked by the number 5, even in this portion 5 is still connected to her. The is added to her name, has a numerical value of 5. Her name changes from Sarai to Sarah the 10) )is dropped for the causing her name to decrease in its gematria by 5 (10 5 = 5) and making the value of her name 505. Five is the number associated with grace, the favor of Yahweh, brought about by obedience! Its interesting to note that it was 5 stones that David took with him to face Goliath (1 Samuel 17:40) a giant and part of the serpents seed. Chayei/life: Strongs #2416 chay life, living, alive; connected to the name Eve/Chavvah life or living. In the statement Chayei Sarah, not only do we have a reference to Sarah but to Eve as well! Sarah represents the 2nd Eve/Bride! When Eve came in contact with the serpent she is galah/uncovered, made naked, and removed from Eden. In this portion, Sarah has just died Genesis 3:19 for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return. Genesis 3:14 upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life In other words, Sarah is about to encounter the serpent who will seek to consume the dust...However she is connected with the number five (five stones killed Goliath), so lets look at her life and see what grace meant for her! Genesis 23:1 127 years were the years of the life of Sarah, her new name is used. Yet she was not called Sarah until she turned 90 years old. 127 90 = 37, for 37 years she is Sarah. The opening statement of this portion is Vayihyu chayeh Sarah the first word Vayihyu 37 = , emphasizing the number 37, the years she is Sarah. He will & = the connector & = breath of YHVH He will connect you and breathe on you. *37 30 = the teacher, the shepherd & 7 = the weapon, cut off, covenant He will connect you by the teacher/shepherd who is cut off for the covenant and breathe on you again. Its the promise of the Messiah to restore His bride to life! Chayeh/chay comes from the root chayah (#2421) to live, have life, remain alive, sustain life, to be quickened, to be restored to life, live forever! This is what is proclaimed at the death of Sarah/the Bride the promise that the Messiah will restore her! The number 37 is also connected to Genesis 1:1, as well as the number 127. Created: Strongs #1254 bara to create, shape, form * root = son, pure/clean, radiant In the beginning, YHVH established a covenant offering a garment of fire (garment of light) through his Son (Yahshua) to purify, cleanse, and make radiant! This garment is connected to Sarah!

The number 37 is also seen in 2 Samuel 23:39 Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all. (*Has 5 words in the Hebrew) This is the last name mentioned in a list of the 37 mighty men whom David had. The value of this verse = 1758; same as Psalm 44:25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth. Remember that Sarah is facing returning to the dust! Shes in covenant and has received the garment of fire! And she proclaims the same thing as found in Psalm 44:26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies sake. Uriah was a Hittite - Sarah is buried among the people of Heth or the Hittites! Shes buried in a cave bought from Ephron the Hittite. Hittite: Strongs #2850 Chittiy descendant of Heth; from #2845 Cheth terror; from #2865 chathath to be shattered, be dismayed, be broken, abolished, afraid the name Heth = one in fear/terror of being shattered because they are fenced off ( )from the Covenant () Ephron: Strongs #6085 Ephrown fawn-like; from #6083 aphar dry earth, dust, powder, ashes, ground (*same term is used in Genesis describing the dust). *Sarah/Bride has no fear as she faces the serpent who would seek to consume the dust because she is fenced in by the Covenant and covered by the light of Yahweh (unlike Eve who had removed this covering), therefore just as David was victorious against the one would seek to uncover him/make him naked (Goliah galah) so is Sarah!

The completion/perfecting (healing) of the speech/mouth of the kallah caused the light to be revealed in her! The letter thats added to Sarahs name represents the Hebrew language when she is restored to the language of Yahweh (her speech is healed or perfected) His light/rainbow covers her as well. This is the pattern for the Bride at the end as well Zephaniah 3:9! Remember where Sarah dies Kirjatharba. This city was founded by Arba of the Anakim (Joshua 14:15), a tribe of giants. This location and the people that Abraham is now dealing with concerning Sarahs burial, the Hittites, are connected and intermingled with the giant races. Why then do they respond in such a favorable way to Abrahams need for a burial spot? Abraham the Hebrew who stands in opposition to the seed of the serpent and cuts it off, why are the very ones who will eventually be cut off by Abrahams seed having no problem with Abraham burying Sarah? Genesis 23:5-6, 10-11 *According to tradition, it is in the Cave of Machpelah that Adam and Eve are buried as well! The serpent usurps the authority from Adam and Eve they lose their garments of fire/covering of light because they choose to remove it at the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The giants control (Hasatans control) of this cave showed his authority over the bride who had become dust now consumed by the serpent. As Sarah faces the dust (another type of the Bride), Hasatan now seeks to consume her as well to usurp her light (hence the favorable response to Abrahams need for a burial spot)! But what happens? Abraham purchases the spot for 400 shekels (Genesis 23:16-18)! 400 = the mark of the Covenant. Abraham purchases/redeems this location and marks/stamps it with the Tav the Covenant! Not only is Sarah redeemed/restored from the dust, but so are Adam and Eve! When the serpent seeks to devour the Bride, instead of being able to uncover her, Yahweh reveals His light in her the garment of fire, His rainbow, that covers her because of the covenant promise from the very beginning! Genesis 23:20 And the field, and the cave that [is] therein, were made 5

sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying place by the sons of Heth. When Abraham buys this property, it was pointing towards the Messiah who would redeem the Bride proclaiming I AM causing the enemy to fall back as His light bursts forth!
