1200 Most Common German Vocab_123906
Quelle: DeReWo, © Institut für Deutsche Sprache, Programmbereich Korpuslinguistik, Mannheim, Deutschland, 2013.
The core vocabulary (Kernwortschatz) below is organized in 12 lists or sets of words as follows: List 1 = the approx. 100 most
frequently used words in the language, List 2 = approx. the next 100 frequently used words, and so on. The colors divide each list into
4 subsections: blue ist the first subsection, then yellow (2nd), green (3rd), orange (4th). In assignments, words to learn are assigned as
KW 2.1 or KW 3.4. >>KW 2.1 means that the words are from list 2, subsection blue = 2.1. Words from KW 3.4 are from list 3, the 4th
subsection (orange). << Whenever possible, use the examples below to help you learn the words in context. We also encourage you to
find or make your own examples of words in context when learning. If you make your own sentences, make sure you are using the
word correctly in a sentence by checking a translation site (linguee.com, deepl.com, google translate), German dictionaries (duden.de,
dwds.de) or bilingual dictionaries (dict.cc, pons, dict.leo)
