GENERAL OBJECTIVE: Teachers will exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. RESEARCH BASE: International Society for Technology in Education (2008) SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Within the duration of this component, participants will: 1. Define Model Digital-Age Work and Learning National Educational Technology Standards (NETS). 2. Describe Transforming Learning Environments with Technology specific to Model Digital-Age Work and Learning (NETS). 3. Identify the Essential Conditions necessary to effectively leverage technology for learning specific to Model Digital-Age Work and Learning (NETS). 4. Interpret Rubrics and Scenarios for Digital Age Teachers specific to Model Digital-Age Work and Learning (NETS). 5. Recognize that education must change to provide students with the opportunity to learn effectively for a lifetime and live productively in an emerging global society and digital world specific to Model Digital-Age Work and Learning (NETS). 6. Recognize that expectations have changed and evolved for teachers in the classroom specific to Model Digital-Age Work and Learning (NETS). 7. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. 8. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. 9. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats. 10. Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information. DELIVERY PROCEDURES: Participants will: 1. Attend lectures, demonstrations and discussions. 2. Receive reading and referencing instructional materials. 3. Participate in hands-on activities.

EVALUATION OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants must demonstrate a mastery of the components specific objectives as measured by an assessment, or other valid measure. Participants will provide feedback regarding the format and delivery of the training via an evaluation tool. FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES: Participants will: 1. Write a narrative about how you are using online collaborative tools as a tool for managing course content and delivering instruction. 2. Demonstrate how you use online collaborative tools to improve communication between school and home. Provide a link to direct us to it. Show how you may have used a digital video camera to take still images and /or create short video clips to use in instruction 3. Demonstrate that you use online collaborative tools to create or update curriculum materials. 4. Provide evidence that you publish lesson plans to your website or blog. 5. Work on a tele-collaborative project with another teacher and class from a school outside the local area. 6. Show how you use a handheld interactive input device to: Create interactive content specific lessons and instruction; record classroom instruction; Create content specific interactive activities (flash applets and notebook toolkit); provide a link to an audio or movie file from a blog or wiki used by students to share information and/or ideas as part of a classroom project. 7. Submit a lesson plan or activity that incorporates web based applications into your instruction. 8. Submit a report of a remote response system session you conducted with your students. Write a narrative about how you used the results to adjust instruction. Note: Available software applications may vary depending if it was purchased by the school or updated by the District. COMPONENT EVALUATION: Professional developer will assess the degree to which the activities addressed the specific objectives and will make recommendations for revision through a component evaluation.
